So what happens to the TTC's existing streetcar yards once this thing is operational and the CLRVs are gone? Do they still need Greenwood? Does it get covered in condos? They've built a two-track high-roof LRV maintenance shed at Roncey, which begs the question of what's going to become of the...

What's the big thing the gantry is hoisting in (or out) in the photos above?

Wait a second, I have a question. They're building these tunnels, lining the walls with interlocking concrete slabs. So how are they going to build the stations if the tracks are completely enclosed in concrete? When they dig out the station boxes, are they going to dismantle the tunnel liners...

I see that Porter planes are now shutting down one engine almost as soon as they land, and taxiing to the gate on one engine only. A cost-saving measure?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I read somewhere that these LRV's are modular in design. I wonder how easy it would be for Bombardier to deliver units with three segments instead of five, yielding something that's a bit closer in size to an ALRV, and might be more suitable to non-calamitous operation on King and Queen?

Who says there's no seven-star hotel in Canada? Why, I'm running one in my front room. It's easy, because there's no such thing as a seven-star hotel, unless you arbitrarily claim it is. I myself have a futon and a nice fuzzy blanket on offer, and if that's not worth seven, or maybe eight or...

Well this is all very pleasant. I'm not sure about those wide grass verges though, where groweth the renderwood trees. Those aren't going to be too appealing in winter.

Gutting old buildings to build condos inside their husks is vile. Instead, use an elaborate jacking system to perch the old brick-and-beam buildings on top of the new condos, raising them up floor-by-floor atop the new construction, until they end up meticulously preserved, 80 stories in the air.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The Crosstown public outreach office's job isn't to have arguments about technology decisions that were approved years ago at the political level (and then, excruciatingly, un-made, then re-made), and ratified all the way up the chain to the premier's office, such that any attempt to alter them...

Yeah, that struck me too. So, did the developers actually launch the project with this article? Given the fact that it's design-forward and might require some massaging in the community, it might make sense. (Though it does put Hume in an odd role of scoop-getter and promoter.)

What a weird post. He spelled "councillors" just fine, and made a perfectly legitimate jibe. The Internet makes people strange sometimes.

For thirteen years now, since I first moved to Toronto to go to U of T, I've plunked myself in this McDonald's with hundreds of thousands of others, and grown, if not healthier, than probably happier. I sat on the upper floor and watched the ROM take shape from rubble to girders to crystals...

I've got a question for y'all: WestJet's new "Encore" regional airline is supposed to be centred around two hubs: Calgary and Toronto. However, news reports studiously avoid making any mention of specific airports. Any idea where Encore's going to be flying out of? Is it Pearson by default? (I...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I don't mind the demure external south entrance at all. What gets to me is the rabbit-hole within: You get led down a twisty, dank little path. But my understanding is that the renovation will open a new path - er, PATH - from the south entrance to the station proper?

No. What? Oh, sorry, saw the thread title, though I'd chime in.
