    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Never understood why the Spadina was seen as necessary whereas a southern extension of the 400 to the Gardiner would've been more feasible above or alongside the railway and frankly, better overall for the network.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Oh absolutely it gets congested, I've driven it. Particularly the central segment between I-55 an I-90 near O'Hare but saying that, the tolls do make a difference on traffic levels. Obviously not 407 levels of free-flowing vehicles but traversing Chicagoland in rush hour via I-294 is infinitely...

Baseless, yes but I was referring more to the relationship between designer/architect, builder, material/cladding supplier(s) and the property owner. Nothing related to the City.

We should look no further than Chicago to see the effects of minimal/moderate highway tolls. Even with reasonable toll rates, Chicago's tolled highways are rarely congested as drivers consciously avoid them. Basically every freeway outside of the central Chicago area is tolled and as such there...

Well, if it makes people feel any better, the same architectural firm that designed Camden Yards and PNC Park will also be overseeing this reno. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populous_(company)#MLB Populous has a phenomenal track record with MLB parks relative to the other firm that designed...

I know they renovated the 300 and 400 level suites recently and reduced their overall numbers by consolidating them. Sections could even be converted to fan spaces if they wanted to reduce numbers even further. I'm sure that's being considered.

With due respect, your interpretation of those suites/restaurants is far from the reality. The subterranean suites are the new norm in all modern sports & entertainment facilities. The gist of it is that corporations and key sponsors buy them up which increases gate revenues. In down years, key...

Judging by the sheer lack of pride in this abomination, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some under the table payoffs going on.

To add to this cultural component reflecting the urban (transit) vs suburban (auto-centric) divide, the ever-present ideal of home ownership is absolutely perpetuated by the lived experiences of many of the GTA's numerous ethnic groups. Many of the SW Europeans who first immigrated to Toronto in...

Interested in seeing how the new scoreboard reno turns out. Looks like the new screen will be larger and some of the LED screens will be replaced. Perhaps a new fan area will be constructed in that space as well. In terms of the $250MM reno plans, I'd say this pic is indicative that substantial...

    Toronto Toronto | CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

The staircase connecting CIBC to the PATH/Scotiabank Arena really skews the symmetrical appearance of the main lobby. Though I'd wager the builders probably had little choice in the matter.

That and their subjective opinions (i.e. votes and political currency) on the transit file matter more to the powers that be than say, transit planning experts.

It's almost as if entitled, demanding, nosy, motormouthed constituents find a way to meddle with the best laid transit plans.

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

I'm sure Dundas BRT will help but from a cycling/pedestrian perspective, will things really change along that stretch? I imagine they'll carve out a sliver of a road lane so cyclists can precariously share the road with vehicles whizzing by at 60 - 80 km/h. I don't cycle and I would certainly...

    Toronto Toronto | Sherway Gardens Phase 1 Infill | 149.3m | 45s | Diamond Corp | Hariri Pontarini

The TTC should extend Line 2 to Sherway and stronger commuter rail service should be a priority. If the Missing Link is ever built (hopefully) and Metrolinx takes control of the Milton line, they should consider branching it at Dixie, going underground, hitting a new Sherway hub then traversing...

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

I run through this area regularly, though much less so in winter. The wider sidewalks are welcome and I guess the distinct "bike lanes" are an improvement but realistically, this reconfiguration pales in comparison to what exists in other cities, especially European cities. The entire stretch of...

    Toronto Toronto | Sherway Gardens Phase 1 Infill | 149.3m | 45s | Diamond Corp | Hariri Pontarini

Question on this prospective alignment: An East Mall station is smack dab in the middle of a heavily industrial area. Metro is currently constructing new DC's on both sides of the 427. Once completed do they sell off the land adjacent to Honeydale where the old DC and Food Basics currently...
