    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Even without EMU’s the proposed OnXpress time savings are still very impressive, the combination of shorter trains and faster acceleration from electric locomotives aren’t to be taken for granted. It does make me wonder how fast it would be with EMU’s though.

That’s not entirely true, while I agree with the rest of you that getting EMU’s at the current stage would be wasteful, since we have 979 coaches that are still in good condition. But when you increase service the length of the trains can decrease, ridership is spread out over multiple trips...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yep! It was originally going to be just west of Burlington where a wye is right now, but it’s been moved to Walkers Line: The yard in the original location was going to be massive, I believe it would have been the largest layover yard on the network: Thanks! I considered a bunch of different...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I’m currently mapping out all current and future places that GO stores trains, have I missed any future locations?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Truly a fantastic piece of graphic design. Conveys all the necessary information in a simple and intuitive way. Thanks! Yeah I try to copy Metrolinx’s style but with improvements, I find the current disruption maps provide little to no information on what to do, and they’re just made poorly in...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

There was a big screw up today on that train, the operating crew failed to notice an incorrectly set manual switch and ended up going into the wrong platform at Georgetown. They managed to stop on the switch before they would come into contact with a train if there was one parked there, but...

Me reading this thread after being away for a couple of days: This was GO’s NOC office yesterday

This is my vision of the GO network after GO Expansion, going off of what Metrolinx and OnXpress has said. This is rush hour service:

I prefer the new options, but at the end of the day I just want rail service

New liveries being voted on, I really like both of them so I don’t mind whichever one wins:

They’re building the frame for the third staircase already, from what I saw it’s a bit off from the other 3, so I think the second section will be on a angle and won’t be fully straight like the rest of the bridge.

From what I know the report was never made public, I got all my information from this CBC article: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/up-express-overhaul-1.5296554

Yeah I’m sure in the future that section could see a 3rd track if the corridor is wide enough for it, maybe when Niagara gets further enhanced service. I would love to see grade separations and speed increases there, why is it so slow right now?
