i spoke with the new tenant and interior designers when they were having a site visit, just happened to be walking by. They didnt disclose details but said it would be a food hospitality place (cafe, bistro, cocktail bar).

Well this is (potentially) exciting. Some interior fit out work and equipment have shown up inside. Though no permit is displayed anywhere yet. Apologies for the poor photo, very strong reflections this morning.

i think live-work units similar to those across mill street would be an appropriate mix at grade here

oh yes i do know that, it's perhaps a little too on the nose but still decently clever. I meant more so the light levels in the space. the light is far too overly dispersed, bright, and homogenous. It translates to a big overhead hotspot. If they brought down the brightness of the 'roof'...

the lighting in this space is pretty awful IMO

I believe the thicker slab is a sign they’ve poured the last level of this awfulness?

Late into fall, podium brick has finally begun. Looks to be the same colour, but far less metallic in finish, and of course hand-laid. Very refreshing to see hand-laid brick in a sea of precast brick panels on condos these days.

probably glass. there are huge delays in glass right now. as seen, none of the window wall has been installed on this project yet, which at this stage would usually at least see half the building's window wall installed, or more. they may be in a position to temporarily seal the openings...

I’m certain there are some exceptions, but I do think more unique and quality restaurant ventures in Toronto tend to favour older, character rich buildings that are retrofitted. Hence why most of the new exciting restaurants like Bar Reyna and Spaccio in the east end are actually in Corktown and...

Riverside neighbourhood starting to feel a lot more urban. The concrete-paved shared lane in between the blocks feels awful though; gently tumbled pavers would have gone a long way, both in traffic mitigation and character.

This thing is an absolute dumpster fire. it's such a mess of an exorbitantly out-of-scale building mass clad in basically every grey colour available in cheap window wall and spandrel paneling. Why anyone, beyond the developers, thought this was a fine idea is beyond me. the shear mass of the...
