That's an odd staircase onto the sidewalk. Is that just temporary?

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

That is great! Be nice if it were unanimous, but that's probably asking too much

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Which option A or C do you think would be approved? A = $170 million for district routes and C = $130 mil in near term and high priority areas. Ideally, both would proceed, but I don't see there being an appetite for that. Personally, I think option C presents slightly better bang for the buck...

Anyone know if there are plans for that property along Jasper beside the tunnel?

    Regional Transit

Transit is on the minds of councillors for the next meeting on Oct. 3. Knack has given notice of the following motion: 10.1 Edmonton Metropolitan Transit Services Commission - Further Follow-up (A. Knack) Councillor A. Knack stated that at the next regular meeting of City Council, he would move...

    MacEwan University School of Business | ?m | ?s | MacEwan University

An aside concerning the U of A Business building ... my dad taught in the Arts building at the time the new business building was going in. He led the Language Lab, and there was a proposal to put a skywalk between the two buildings. Most people in the Arts building were horrified at the idea...

Flair Airlines General Discussion and Updates

Flair has scheduled a 2023 outlook news conference for Wednesday so we'll know more then, I'm sure

    Parking, Parking, Parking

In Vancouver, the agency that operates transit, bridges, and major roads charges a flat-rate tax on each parking stall. Could that be an option in Edmonton? Is it even legal under provincial law?

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

As part of this investment, de Havilland is hoping to restart production of the Q400 and the Twin Otter

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Longview, who owns de Havilland, already has a large presence in Calgary so this is no surprise, really. I would, however, be curious how much money the county/province put on the table. Building a runway isn't cheap, let alone the rest of the infrastructure.

    William Hawrelak Park Rehabilitation

Going through the document, there's some math that doesn't work. They're adding parking spots, which seems to be a major goal of project (other than redoing places around the lake), but don't seem to be adding bike parking. In fact, the documents say 40% of people using the park arrive by...

Certainly has been Canada's approach through much of the country's political history.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

Man, the more I see of that project, the uglier it is for pedestrians. I mean, no wonder Station Pointe never took off. To get across Fort Rd at 66th St, you have to cross 8 lanes of traffic (not to mention being stuck between two stroads and the tracks). Great for cars and trucks, though.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Edmonton city Council has prepared its report on options for completing the bike network by 2026. It goes to the Urban Planning committee on the 27th. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. Having read through the documents, I got the sense of "we'll do it if we have to," but that may just...

    99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing

I like the bike lanes, and I hope they do raised crosswalks/intersections to keep traffic speeds slow in what amounts to an access road downtown ... or, conversely, a street without curbs (perhaps with bollards) that can be converted to pedestrian areas on weekends or during festivals

    Regional Transit

When I listened to the Executive committee debate, a lot of the questions surrounded cost and control of the routes. I think there are councillors who do not want to give up control of transit.

    Canada and Monarchy

Actually, the G-G meets weekly with the prime minister in Canada and has the constitutional authority to advise, to counsel, and to warn, very much the same as in the UK
  18. B

    Canada and Monarchy

I get your ambivalence. Unfortunately, opening up or eliminating the role of the Crown would require a re-write of the constitution (for example, neither the Prime Minister nor a Premier exists anywhere in the constitution) and we all know how good we are at coming together and forging national...

    Arc Smart Fare System

All she said was full roll-out, so I'm assuming all fare structures, but that's a good question

    Arc Smart Fare System

Just watching the Executive Committee meeting, and in response to questions, city administration said they should be ready for a full rollout of the ARC system by April
