    Edmonton Skyline

I took these on Friday from down in Riverdale

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Done and done, thanks for the suggestion

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Kinda, the stop is out on a curb away from the taxi area where it's been for a bit. I didn't smell or see smoke, but that could just be because of chance

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Partly a YEG post, partly an ETS post of my experience taking transit to and from the airport around the long weekend: Took the bus in from the airport Friday. There were 44 people on board the 1545 departure with a few people getting on and off at the outlet mall. Returned to the airport...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Plus, since they'll be the operator, I'm sure they want to get ALL the kinks out before handover

High Level Bridge Streetcar / ERRS

That is some fantastic footage! I particularly like the blue 'library' train. Anyone know where the Calder line ran?
  7. B

    Edmonton Skyline

Wow this picture shows the lasting effect of the approach paths of the City Centre airport on downtown development. Slowly, towers are poking up into the airspace on either side of the cluster of tall buildings in the core, but it's a very slow process.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Typical government funding announcement. They announce the money now to get the project started, then they'll try to do a bigger splash closer to the next election with the details. Call my cynical

    Canada Soccer

From insiders in Vancouver, FIFA's choice had a lot to do with the lack of club seats at Commonwealth. Don't forget, FIFA is about money, and they needed/wanted space for their sponsors at games. FIFA looked at that fact, looked at BC Place, which has a good number of club seats, and pushed for...

    Edmonton | University Commons | ?m | 7s | U of A | GEC

This was always a service road, has the building gone out to the sidewalk, necessitating a wider sidewalk on the other side?

    Edmonton | Metro Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I noticed the downtown circulator has disappeared from the LRT plan map. Is that new?
  12. B

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Not in their business plan. Alliances, code share, etc add complexity and costs and they are focused on keeping costs rock-bottom. At least for now

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Good sleuthing @TAS well done! Now, the other part, were the bike lanes being used that you saw?

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

    Loving the laneway homes

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

Quebec City (and I believe Montreal) uses cut stone -- granite, I think, there is a lot of that in the area
  16. B

    LRT Expansion Planning

Could it be that they're not doing much of anything in the winter? I agree it does seem like a long time, though I was encouraged by the fact that track is going in as early as this summer in sections. Could be that they're trying not to get too far ahead of the neighbourhood.
  17. B

    Downtown

Small correction. It was a letter to the editor, not an article. So it was one citizen's point of view, not a balanced telling of a story.
  18. B

    Past Vs Present

Certainly looks SO much better. Unfortunate that when the scans were taken 14 years apart, there are actually fewer people in the street
  19. B

    High Level Bridge

Absolutely, they should know. Would it be easier to just ban trucks on the bridge?

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

It's a news release and perhaps I'm being cynical, but I have to think a likely reason they're mentioning HSR to Edmonton is to put added pressure on the province to fund the $10 million next stage of study or else the project dies. "See? It's not just a Calgary-Banff project, it's for the...
