    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

https://www.thebeaverton.com/2020/03/ttc-adequate-for-first-time-in-40-years/ Can't help but laugh. Then cry.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

National park farmland! A peculiarity to Rouge National Park.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm under the impression that these are extensions, so they will operate as part of Line 5. Therefore, I find it very unlikely that ML/TTC will operate two different manufacturer's trainsets on the same line, because of the difficulty in operating separate maintenance infrastructure at EMSF...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Assuming the signalling hardware is the same on both lines, they should work. Same gauge, distance from platform, etc. Remember that the Citadis Spirits currently ordered are also serving as a contingency for a late Flexity delivery.

https://blog.metrolinx.com/2020/03/13/metrolinx-releases-latest-update-while-responding-to-covid-19-pandemic/ Changed to 30 minute frequencies as opposed to 15.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Line 2 and 4 are both subways, so there could be an arrangement to have a turn at McCowan/Sheppard so that both line 2 and 4 stop at STC, or have some sort of through running every X trains. Of course, this would require the foresight of Metrolinx planners to build the station in a location...

gas tax + DVP/Gardiner tolls for transit funding, please. too bad it would never be politically feasible.

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Don't mean to be rude, but I think you're on the wrong Flexity thread.

COVID-19 Measures (updated list at top of thread)

Makes sense, most cases still seem to be coming from the US so the airport is one of the main sources of disease.

COVID-19 Measures (updated list at top of thread)

Seeing as we had a spike of COVID-19 cases today, and considering the public safety measures already taken, I think it would be wise to have a thread about it. Worldwide transit measures (for comparison): Outbreak Centres Wuhan: Shut down since mid-January...

Unfortunately, the city doesn't have the power to impose sales taxes.

https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/03/09/metrolinx-quietly-agreed-to-pay-bombardier-40m-more-for-lrt-vehicles.html Sensationalized title, but some info about the cost of installing signalling systems to the Flexity Freedoms, as well as incentives and fines on the ML-BBD contract

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

I seem to remember the more recent ML maps all depicting a Sheppard East extension

See, the heated shelters help with the pain of 20 minute headways on Viva.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The YRT may be chronically underfunded in terms of opex, but the shelters on the Viva BRTs are much better than these. Longer canopy, heated waiting area, and actually look fairly stylish.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/03/06/ttc-has-fallen-behind-on-streetcar-maintenance-and-it-may-affect-their-lifespan-and-warranty-bombardier-says.html Scheduled maintenance was cancelled from October to April, partially due to the emergency welds and other problems.

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It does add up. When the next government swoops in and cancels the line in a few years, the PCs get to yell about how the Liberals want to take your subways.
