    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

If you witness something similar again, you might want to consider texting the "TTC incident report" line at 647-496-1940

I'm also not thrilled by the design nor the blue. Do we need to indicate the line colour on the train itself?

Yes, I remember. There are lots of places in TO that waste their windows and it's truly a shame. I have so many ideas for Toronto, just not the means to make them come true.

I think my idea would be close to an Eataly, but not a true Eataly because it wouldn't be just Italian. There's a Jysk somewhere in Scarborough I think, but nowhere close to downtown.

I'm totally going to call it Thewell instead of The Well and see if it catches on. 😂

Cinemas, performing arts spaces, bowling alleys etc would all be perfectly suited to the basement as none of them require (or would even want to have) windows. I'm now even more interested in my own idea. Lol. I would actually love to go hang out high over the city, particularly Dundas Square...

I lived in Japan for 8 years which is why I wondered if some designs from there could work here. Japan tends to put their restaurant levels on the top floor of their vertical malls and reserves the basement for groceries and specialty food counters (deli, fish, cakes, etc). But I think Canadians...

There's a pattern here. Part of the issue with department stores is that they get people horizontally transversing levels 1 & 2 but the higher floors get ignored - they can't seem to figure out what will draw people up vertically. I think the older department stores that had food...

    Yonge-Dundas Square/Sankofa Square (Brown + Storey Architects)

I agree that removing the south side lane would be an improvement. Then we could convert the Shopper's into a restaurant with outdoor seating sprawling into the square which would give it a much more European vibe.

I'd rather parts of Queen become pedestrian-streetcar-only over Dundas.

I really hope they completely redesign Pape station while they're at it. It has the absolute worst pedestrian flow of any of the stations I frequent.

Perhaps we need to advocate for a series of tweaks that would bring it more inline with Shibuya Crossing or Piccadilly Circus or just plain make it unique so it stops getting compared to a shabbier version of Times Square. Bring on the 3D ads on all those screens (and art from time to time)...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Firmly agree! I often consider biking places and then change my mind when I consider the risk of my bike being stolen. In fact, I'd say the risk of theft is sometimes more of a deterrent to me than lack of bike lanes.

    VIA Rail

    I agree!

    VIA Rail

If the line were elevated, and particularly if it ran very closely to or above pre-existing roads/rail for as much of the line as possible, wouldn't that mitigate breeding path concerns? Animals would either be able to pass under or already can't pass now so no difference.

    Hudson's Bay Company

Apparently, they're going to bring back the restaurant as a food truck (but with a smaller selection of only the top items). https://toronto.citynews.ca/2023/01/27/zellers-restaurant-food-trucks/

Art is subjective anyway. Personally, I quite like the art at Union (and also Pape), but I'm not keen on the older 70s stuff and find some of the other newer station art (like in all the Sheppard line stations) kinda boring.

    Toronto Toronto | The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

My friend from London told me she loves the spontaneity of the people of Toronto and how we're always organizing community events, pop-ups, large & small festivals, etc. She also likes the laneways full of a mish-mash of amateur & pro graffiti art and the diversity of food and people. Her idea...
