Too bad the building hasn't been maintained over the years within its original glory though. Very handsome building back in its day.

Sure to be the next king west hot spot if they can get some good F&B tenants.

Oh my bad, I didn't realize DSC was a longtime contributor and a very valuable member, I should have known better. That's on my for not realizing that they were referring to the smaller group of stakeholders - SNLA & 55 Esplanade. Thanks for all that well-laid out additional info, I'll...

Don't put words in my mouth. I wanted to know who specifically gave feedback on this project already from the community - what the selection criteria was. You're (dismissive) comment about "the st lawrence community" wasn't really accurate was it because as you've further clarified (and since...

I live in the St Lawrence community so it certainly wasn't everyone in the neighbourhood. And there was a post about this in the St Lawrence community FB group where hundreds of people have indicated they do not like the design/did not get a chance to give feedback. So it feels a bit deceptive...

I disagree. I like the lobby, reminds me of CitizenM Bowery hotel lobby in NYC.

Any word yet (or whispers) on what hotel brand will be opening here?

Couldn’t have said it better. This part of the esplanade has a very distinct feel and the ground level treatment of this building feels hugely sterilizing. Very little character and playfulness. I guess the wavy canopy is nice in a novel sort of way 😔.

With 60 queen across the street (proposed at 57), 88 Queen east to the Northeast (51) and The Saint (47) to the south, this neighbourhood is going to look so different in a few years. I really hope this retains the henry's and downtown camera heritage buildings mentioned above. The East end has...

I kind of feel like this too. It feels like sunlight is going to be in short supply to the north of this building most of the day.

Can't wait to have a drink at the lobby bar when this finally opens 👀

All the height variation here is so nice, makes it a lot more visually appealing. It really stands in contrast to the dozens of buildings further East in the entertainment district that all maxed out within a floor or two of each other.

No, it's a direct reference to all the people that blindly glorify the height of buildings without any care for the quality of the design and how it impacts the skyline, ground level etc for decades to come. But hey, bonus points for you squeezing the word “facilely” in there.

That’s what renderings are for. They are actively setting our expectations low. Track record means something. And what we’ve seen from Concord in this city is generally agreed as being sub-par. Send me a note in 5 years when this is done if I’m wrong. In the meantime, I’ll be anxiously...

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

Yes I'm sure. That's what they teach in any reputable school for architecture. Generally speaking, putting profits ahead of people does not make good architecture. This building is shaping up to be the epitome of that. You can see that from the visceral reaction from all the people in this...

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

This kind of feels more like willful ignorance. While beauty is somewhat subjective, there are generally accepted guidelines around what makes good architecture. This does not fall within many of those guidelines, sadly.

I hope it continues to get delayed 😅
