Or they could just expropriate it, right? But definitely understood, it's complicated. I don't think Metrolinx has ever shown this as a connection though — the connection shown has always just been on the west side at Antler from what I've seen. [Based on info in a question on today's Metrolinx...

What can I say, I have feelings about lighting 🤣

Raising the subject of the lighting fixture for discussion. I believe this is the first we've seen of it? I was wondering and hoping we'd see a lighting fixture here. If you're going to have a big hulking dystopian spandrel disaster of a tower next to another hulking dystopian spandrel disaster...

That's Ubisoft parking all the way up there? It seems like this lot is connected to 80 Ward St., though maybe all these buildings are same ownership and Ubisoft people park up there too. Or maybe Ubisoft has offices in 80 Ward St. as well, I'm not sure. There's another bigger parking lot as...

On the subject of meetings about the Greenway, there's an upcoming one tomorrow, Dec 13th: https://www.metrolinxengage.com/en/DavenportGreenway/Dec13 There's also more info in this PDF: https://www.metrolinxengage.com/sites/default/files/ddpr-presentation-2021-11-29.pdf For me a big part of...

I respect and appreciate projects going for some colour but I don't love the yellow personally, hopefully it looks better as it fades. It seems random and not integrated. Pulling in a secondary colour like a blue or red in addition to the yellow would have helped.

I am begging Toronto developers to have a tiny sliver of good taste and care for our city and if a wall has to be solid materiality for whatever reason then design it that way from the start instead of projecting a fantasyland for renders and giving us solid spandrel walls like this. It's really...

Drop it to 6 stories and expropriate Gord Perks' house for an apartment building and we have a deal.

    Toronto Toronto | 778 King West | 63.3m | 17s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

Seems like the kind of thing the City should try to create policy to prevent. Not sure what the options would be, but letting this kind of unit layout construction go on in new developments doesn't seem to be in the best interests of anyone (except developers and investors who don't have people...

    Toronto Toronto | The Taylor | 121m | 36s | Tricon | Diamond Schmitt

Personally I've never noticed brick/stone buildings being dirty as a major issue in the city. But I do notice the hostile sterility of glass/spandrel street fronts.

    Toronto Toronto | YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I'm super interested to see if in the future there will be some common spandrel dystopia aesthetic in the work of the graduates from the Toronto Film School in this building.

    Toronto Toronto | 569 Christie | 14.5m | 3s | UrbinCo | Studio Architectonic

Good stuff and intensification on our main N/S streets which are so often single family homes has huge untapped potential. That's a big lot with lots of space to intensify. Hope they keep the tree though.

    Toronto Toronto | 510 Yonge | 196.9m | 59s | KingSett Capital | BDP Quadrangle

It's wild to me that the City's response is dictating that the angled rotation of this proposal is simply incorrect. That seems highly highly subjective whichever way you fall on the preference and not something to be determined by fiat like this. And in a city full of such boring mediocrity...

    Toronto Toronto | 83 Bloor West | 260.25m | 77s | Parallax | Arcadis

Interesting. I'm not particularly bothered by losing any of those buildings, but having some fine-grain streetscape here is nice especially with a lot of the surrounding area being big monolithic and sterile buildings that don't interact with the street level that well. So hopefully we can see...

    Toronto Toronto | 328 Bloor West | 114.92m | 37s | First Capital | BDP Quadrangle

Trying to incorporate the buildings on site would definitely make this design worse or precipitate a redesign which would likely also be worse. The buildings on site do not seem worth that at all to me.

    Toronto Toronto | 100 Davenport | 72m | 19s | 100 Davenport Ltd | Scott Shields

Seems like something we should be funding adequately and if there isn't enough money our ostensibly responsible and reasonable Mayor should be a grown up and raise property taxes appropriately in order to pay for proper planning for our city's future. We're doing nobody any favours — including...

    Toronto Toronto | 252 Church | 166.1m | 52s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

Looks pretty good from this angle, and it will be compelling to have more buildings fill in the vista around Yonge–Dundas Square.

    Toronto Toronto | 211 Symington | 14m | 3s | Oikoi | Scott Shields

I'm not sure about the zoning and if they will be allowed to flip back to commercial purposes or if these spaces were grandfathered commercial uses in yellowbelt previously and now that they're residential the ratchet of zoning policy will keep them that way. I'll have to look it up...

    Toronto Toronto | 211 Symington | 14m | 3s | Oikoi | Scott Shields

Great to see! This is very near me and I welcome this development immensely. Unfortunately there are some great bones of old storefronts nearby at Symington and Antler and also down at Wallace that have been turned into residential and lost to us as a result. A lot of what makes this area great...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Do we have any journalists in this city who can get an interview with the Mayor and push him and demand accountability on his absolute negligence of his duty to protect the people of this city, or are the journalists and organizations who have access to the Mayor all his PR team?
