Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

So Scarborough to Union didn't make the cut after all? Bah

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

    1) We already have a levy to raise $1B over 30 years. This looks like its calling for at least $5B from the city, possibly more. Good luck with that? 2) Why the hell should we raise a levy to pay for infrastructure the Province is bullying us to take over? I'd rather put everything on pause...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The line runs from Ontario Place to OSC just so that he can call it the Ontario line. That's all you need to know about Doug Ford. The city needing to cough up $11B seems like all that is needed to put the brakes on this plan.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Its not so much that the GO stations aren't directly beside major roads, its that the stations themselves are set back fairly substantially from those roads (and I can't speak to all roads near GO stations but St. Clair and Eglinton are actively hostile to pedestrians) Add to that the challenge...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Charging for GO parking I think fundamentally misunderstands the nature of GO stations. Almost without exception they are designed with absolutely terrible TTC connections. So, how are people supposed to get to them without driving? If everyone is driving, then reducing the fare by $2 and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

This is actually pretty sad - not only is the set of stations laughably small, and not only does this imply that the cost for other trips within the 416 to Union are actually going to increase more to compensate. But I think this puts a pretty solid nail in the coffin of Smarttrack ever coming...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Isn't that pretty much as good as we can hope for these days? The reality is that any truly big ticket progressive issues will get swatted down by the Ford government anyways. I'm pretty convinced that Thug would have vetoed every single one of Keesmaat's election planks.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

We'll know soon enough, if he keeps DMW as the deputy mayor.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I think of Paul Ainsley as Center-Left, but maybe it's just because he has a spine and seems rational and somewhat progressive? I can't find an easy link to his recent voting history.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I wouldn’t go that far, but yeah you’re right - looking at his voting record he is a reliable right wing vote.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I would quibble with your calls for wards 6 & 15, I see those councilors as more center (or rather, more Chaotic Neutral :) ). However, I would strongly disagree with Paul Ainsle being characterized as Center-Right, he is more Center-Left if anything.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

At the very least, I think if Ford thought this would drag council to the right he has been proven mistaken. Too bad Ford Jr managed to hang on though...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Is this a left wing council? By my count it is....

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

The first half of that statement I do think is an admirable trait in a councilor, and one that will be much harder to do effectively in 25 wards. The city building speaks more to his vote on council, and while he was certainly a terrible, horrible, no good seat there, at least he actively did...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Rob Ford *was* a surprisingly good councilor (albeit with political views I found abhorrent). That skill set did not translate to being a good mayor.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Those are some great numbers all around. It would be the height of irony if the council makeup swings left as a result of Thug Ford's shenanigans.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Mammoliti sounds desperate, and I'm loving every minute of it. Having him turfed will make this entire mess of a process almost worth it.....

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

For what its worth, I am going to vote for Crawford, for the following weak reasons: 1) He has been surprisingly responsive the few times I have contacted his office, and almost always he responds instead of staff 2) He has been a driving force in increasing arts funding 3) Probably most...

Toronto Municipal Election 2018: Mayor’s Race

You say this facetiously, but there are many public marinas in Toronto, and there is a sailing club at Bluffers Park you can get into for $350 per year ($700 if you own a boat). Comes with free parking for Bluffers too!

Toronto Municipal Election 2018: Mayor’s Race

It felt like Sarah Climenhaga was the nominal best challenger, and probably would have been polling in the high single digits or low 10's at least. Keesmaat took all of her oxygen. Its tough to say because the summer Ward turmoil really stopped anyone from building any kind of momentum.
