    Capital Line LRT

I think the white arch motif (inspired by the Walterdale) should be used on more of bridges in our city. Already, the pedestrian bridges at WEM and Whitemud Creek use it and so will this bridge. It would be a cool quirk about the city.

Was walking/partying in the area and the scale of the project is enormous. The one tower alone already has a MASSIVE presence width and height-wise. Can’t wait for the second tower!

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Anyone know when it’s coming out this year?

That does make me wonder… what’s the nightlife going to look like in the coming decades on 124th Street, now that it’s starting to get that Whyte Avenue vibe?

Except, they can't reduce the height. In their words, the amount of piling they have to build in a very small floor area (due to the abandoned coal mines under the site) means they have to build the tower to the proposed 280m height or it won't be profitable for them. It's all-or-nothing. They...

On the Building Edmonton website, it projects a September 2023 opening. In other words: September 30th at 11:59 pm

Not a bad idea. It could justify the ludicrous costs of the townhouses.

Honestly, it's better this way for now. Downtown's already a mess of construction, so it's a prudent move not to add to that and to just concentrate their labour on the most geotechnically complex portions of the project.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Kingsway isn't the only one. University Avenue also needs to be grade separated (probably an LRT underpass), and I think eventually, the Valley Line will have to be grade-separated (elevated) at Bonnie Doon. Unfortunately, I don't think the Kingsway grade separation will happen until we build...

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

Whoops, my bad. I was generalizing to at-grade crossings with roadways.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Perhaps had it been on the north side, the LRT would have been extended into Horse Hills and then turned to head towards the airport via the Energy and Tech Park.

    Downtown Real Estate

Real. People outside Alberta often enter Calgary as a gateway city, then realize there’s an almost equally large but more affordable metropolis 3 hours north and the whole thing shifts towards equilibrium as people move up.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I've often wondered: what would Edmonton look like had the airport been positioned where the CFB base is now? (And maybe the CFB based located where the airport is instead). Would the city have primarily expanded towards the north so people could be closer to the airport, with less development...

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

Building regional rail to the airport would lay the groundwork for future high-speed rail via the implementation of grade separations, some double tracking, station construction and maybe even electrification (if we’re lucky). We should think of this like the CalTrain modernization project.
