Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Not to derail the thread but I work in investment and corporate banking as a corporate investment banker with one of the big 6 Canadian banks. I can 100% assure you that not a single big 6 Canadian bank has an investment banking or corporate banking office or personnel in Edmonton (all are...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Corporate finance, investment banking and anything further corporate (risk management, equity research, etc.) have absolutely nothing to do with branches at all. Anything of the sorts are all located in the office tower locations....in Calgary.

Respectfully @archited, where are you getting your information and confidence in information from? I don't recall a post in which you have mentioned your sources or why you are so sure to bet your reputation on this. I am not challenging you, but many of us that don't have inside industry...

https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-why-alberta-needs-to-kick-in-funding-for-edmontons-fifa-bid I still believe this has everything to do with Kenney punishing Edmonton. What is there to drag the government feet on? The benefits are obvious and supported through years of...

So how is that provincial support coming now that we are inching ever close to the announcement/support deadline? Those UCP folks must really be thinking hard how they can support the Edmonton area jobs and investment and provincial branding if its taking them this long.

Sooo with the March 20th date that was referenced fast approaching and @archited staking his reputation, I am curious if we will be seeing movement on this project this month. Any guesses or updates?

The province has very well made their decision and long time ago. If today was any indication, the UCP and Kenney are not interested in Edmonton or anything to do with Edmonton whatsoever. It is quite clear that the recovery and growth and interest is everywhere but. Just look at the sports and...

    Downtown Real Estate

Can you clarify what you are referring to? On the one hand you're saying you'd bet on ATB building a new office, on the other hand you're saying you would love to see them build a new office. Just trying to understand if you're sharing from a place of potential inside knowledge versus you are...

It was in the Globe article I posted in post 1,652 and will share the link again here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-sale-of-telecom-empire-has-generational-impact-on-shaw-family/ The article speaks to how Shaw felt that Jan Riemer was hampering Shaw's growth and investment...

Huhhhh?? Did you read my post at all? If you did any kind of research you would note that this city has quite the documented long and unfortunate history of corporations leaving the city and public spats between councilors and corporation (see Jan Riemer and Shaw). Not to mention that our head...

This. I have been a proponent on this forum for more and improved corporate development and for me it frustrating to continue hearing this. For decades Edmonton has not taken corporate business development serious. You can extend back all the way to having companies like Shaw, Oxford Properties...

I couldnt agree more. Without sounding negative and that is certainly not my intention, this is a nice clean building but is quite disappointing. We continue to lack architecturally significant or statement buildings in Edmonton and this one is no different. It is a simple plain glass box at...

I think (I am truly hoping) it would have to be a different design given its new intended purpose from residential to office. Only hope is that the design is significantly better than what was previously planned and is on par or better than what Stantec and JW turned out to be. That would be a...

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Its almost embarrassing really and speaks clearly to how the province views Calgary vs. Edmonton. Both cities (and the entire province obviously) have been significantly impacted economically by COVID and an entire year after the provincial government got on board with pumping Calgary's tires to...

    Canada Soccer

This could not be less surprising at all. If it doesn't benefit Calgary, it doesn't benefit Alberta. With all the trumpeting Kenny goes around doing about jobs and investment and building Alberta back for Calgary you'd think this would be an absolute no brainer, and if this were Calgary in the...

    Downtown

Sad, embarrassing are a couple of words that come to mind. From 2016 to 2021 we had the Ultima, Encore, both Fox towers, Mayfair, Hendrix, Maclaren, (others?), the Ice district coming to completion and despite all our downtown boosting efforts we are at the bottom of almost every mid to large...
