General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

For those living in North York and want more bike lanes between Sheppard and Steeles, try this survey! toronto.ca/reimaginingyonge

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

To add to this, cycling to work is sometimes the highlight of my workday. I feel more energetic over days I don't cycle to work! I tell that to co-workers but they're so set in their ways.

Agreed, put a garbage bag over that thing Bill! :)

Let the guessing begin... Apple store!

Bill123, what are the kinds of business Metro can lease there? With Longo's coming, I'm not sure if the area needs another "Whole Foods" type grocery store. But then again, higher-end grocery stores are the only ones that can realistically open since they're the only ones that have the margins...

Can anyone recommend a slush/rust-proof bike (i.e. sealed drivetrain)? My winter ride gets a beating and I'm tired of replacing the drivetrain every few years!

Thanks for the constant update. Please let us know when food is being served!

I'm impressed by how the reflection off the building almost seamlessly continues with the raising tower to the right. It almost looks like the glass building is translucent. Kudos to you for the framing of the building and centred streetcar.

    Whole Foods

It happened a few times for me, but not that frequently. My issue with them is that they sometimes charge taxes on grocery items, that's more my frustration. Next time they overcharge, go right to the Customer Service desk. You'll probably get the item for free. Check the link below, they...

Toronto Toronto | Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion | 123.13m | 35s | RioCan | BDP Quadrangle

Interior layout has been updated. Boston Pizza and Mirage are still conspicuously missing. However, Chipotle and IQ Food, in addition to Basil Box, have signed up!

Here's hoping for some decent "sui gow min".

So far, apart from yourself, what's open there now? BTW I got your flyer delivered to my house last week. Looks good. Do you fix Nexus tablets? Congrats and all the best for your business!

Toronto Toronto | Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion | 123.13m | 35s | RioCan | BDP Quadrangle

RioCan has published their interior layout if anyone is interested. It's interesting that they put the stairs going up/down inside the mall rather than outside so the existing floors remain. It also looks like none of the major restaurants have signed up, but the banks are still there...

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

More bike lanes, Sheppard subway west to the airport and mandatory remedial driving lessons for people who drive through here. I know none of these are realistic, so they are "hopes"!

    Empress Walk Retail

Haha. Spoke too soon! The new signage was being placed last night as I was walking to the library.

Sunnyray, first of all, thanks for the detailed response. I'm not saying you are pro-car or pro-bike, I really don't like your argument that there are not enough cyclist to build bike lanes. I simply believe we should try to benefit everyone and give people the CHOICE of walking, using cars...

By chance, do you know the numbers or is this from observation? I cycle and live in the neighborhood. The thing with this stretch of Yonge is I don't feel safe as a cyclist, so instinctively I choose Beecroft or Doris. If there was a protected lane, I'd use it and I'm sure many others would...

    Toronto Toronto | 4800 Yonge Street | 168.24m | 49s | Menkes | Arquitectonica

Looks like the owner of the site is looking to erect an 18 story condo. There is a development sign in front of the old "Pourquoi Pas" restaurant.

Thanks for the effort! The only way to circumvent this is to publicize this hidden parking on a cycling map or TTC map. Even though it takes more effort to reach the area, I'd much rather leave my bike here over the TTC Harlandale or Yonge subway entrance, any day!
