    G Road Test Tips

I got failed for this. Took my test in Hamilton - was told to merge into the next lane on the QEW while it was moving reasonably well but with heavy traffic. Slowed to find a space in the next lane to merge into and went under 80 km/h doing so. Was told that this was an unforgivable offense and...

TTC Cutting Service at the end of month

Jane is already underserviced. This is not good.

Are all Toronto hospitals like this?

I've had similar experiences with the emergency at Gerrard and University. Never made it through the triage area in less than 8 hours in my three visits there. The worst thing I saw while waiting was a guy who had slipped on the ice and bashed his head. He was still bleeding from the back of...

Who has the longest commute to work?

Right now, about 25 minutes by car, about 70 minutes if I take the bus. My most brutal commute was from Brantford to Dixie and Eglinton, a hour with no traffic, 3 hours plus in bad traffic.

    Condo Upgrades

I bought a fully detached two bedroom house in Toronto for $242k. They are out there, you just have to look.

    Condo Upgrades

$330k for a condo? That's ridiculous. Buy a house for that price.

    Condo Upgrades

Can somebody explain to me why you would want smooth ceilings? The ceiling just seems to be something you barely notice, unless it was reflective (as it would be if smooth)... and that seems like a bad thing to me. Why pay thousands for it?

    Church-Wellesley Village

Yeah, walking down Homewood was awkward. (used to live there) I saw two of those "ladies" fighting over prices one day. They may dress like women but they certainly punch like men (right in the face too!)

    Toronto Toronto | Yonge Eglinton Centre | ?m | 37s | RioCan | P + S / IBI

Interesting stuff. I work in the Y-E center and would like to see some more shops there. ps. Was just downstairs for lunch and saw Tie Domi walk through the mall... does he live in Toronto, and if not what is he doing here?

    Your life as a route

That just proves that you really like my old neighbourhood! :)

    Your life as a route

I've plotted all my moves (places I've lived) as a route in Google Maps. Interesting to see it laid out like that. I've "rounded" everything off to the nearest semi-major intersection to avoid giving away addresses. Google map

    Church-Wellesley Village

Hmmm, that's strange. Usually adding the start of the postal code (M4Y) is enough to distinguish which one you want. Google maps seems to keep switching up which Homewood they give by default.

    Corktown

It's an interesting neighbourhood, but yes I agree with the other poster that this is basically Corktown... On a side note, has anyone driven down Bright Street - and did you notice like I did that the big row of townhouses has a serious lean to it? Gave a hall-of-mirrors feel to the street.

    Weston Village

369 Church Street Weston I found an interesting website - link It shows this picture It's stated as 369 Church Street, Weston. You can see the numbers on the house agree with that. I went to find the modern-day equivalent, but numbers on Church don't go that high. I searched up Maple...

    Church-Wellesley Village

Homewood Ave I found an old map, which I can't find anymore, that showed three courts coming off the west side of the downtown Homewood. The northernmost one got extended to connect with Maitland. The southern two are gone, replaced with towers. Interestingly, they made it onto the modern...

    Can't find posts easily

I'm looking for posts pertaining to certain roads, and it's really not helpful when a 200 page thread shows up in the results with no way to tell which page the road is on. Also, I know there was one thread in particular that talked about the "Eglinton Extension" across the Don. I wanted to...

    Lost Neighbourhood: Blondin Avenue

One other interesting thing I've noticed in these Blondin Road pictures is that Mathews Gate was cut in later.... why?? Seems like an unnecessary road that they had to knock down at least 4 houses to build. This map in the archives is interesting...
