GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Getting back on topic, some service changes ranging from Dec 23-Jan 6, including a surprising number of additional trains running on New Year's. https://www.gotransit.com/en/service-updates/schedule-changes

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

If this does happen, they'll have to make the 407 free for that portion or else there will be some intense outrage. Maybe even make their owned section of the highway through Durham also free as well which I don't see happening.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This is definitely the opposite. The crosstown is THE prime example of the over exaggeration of construction projects in Toronto taking 20 years to finish. Its become a literal meme in Toronto culture for years now which is why you don’t hear a lot of talk about it anymore.

Can’t imagine a subway that runs every 3 mins on average not having grade separation. This would cause some massive issues if this didn’t happen.

The way that 18 Dixie just boomed. Its probably more to do with all the employment areas between Steeles-Courtneypark and also huge connections with the Miway Derry, Tomken and Dixie buses. Chinguacousy suffers the way it does today because its technically the most frequent route on the far...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

This reminds me of another simple trick. If you're taking local transit and transferring at a GO station (Bramalea, Mt Pleasant, Port Credit, etc), you could set a default trip to the next station from where you're at, and tap at a GO presto machine. You'll get 3 additional hours on top of your...

My rant/questions about the consequences of the Gardiner/DVP upload

There is actually a sign that states Mississauga as a destination. Its at when the 410 begins, when going southbound you will see the sign…

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It feels like it'll get better as time goes on but its probably me just being optimistic. Each individual project that gets completed, including the GO ones in Toronto, would make them want to take transit more serious since it'll be a much bigger deal than the half joke that it is today.

My rant/questions about the consequences of the Gardiner/DVP upload

It does this at the QEW/403 split as well. "QEW Toronto (Downtown)" and "401 via 403 Toronto" are the signs, which helps your case of "404 via QEW" a lot more. "QEW Mississauga/Hamilton" is personally a better fit if only once again they still don't want to put the boroughs such as Etobicoke...

My rant/questions about the consequences of the Gardiner/DVP upload

I mean a suggestion such as QEW Etobicoke for the westbound from the York/Bay/Yonge exit and QEW East York east of it could work even if Toronto doesn't really acknowledge their own boroughs at all anymore, So I guess QEW Hamilton and QEW Newmarket it is despite being dead center in the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think they removed the full weekend pass this year because they literally got too big in ridership on weekends. Guessing they didn't want people to buy this and overstuff every corridor when service still isn't there, and for people to take full advantage of this with their families/friends.

There probably will never be tolls on the QEW. Keep in mind that this serves as a multi purpose highway. Yes there is the popular demand from the GTA to Niagara Falls itself, but then you have people going elsewhere and/or travelling locally in NR, then crossing the border into the US, and this...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

First of all they made it mandatory to use the passes 7 days from when you purchased it, to now doing this. This is kind of shady but at least weekend passes are 24 hours from when you activate it and not just end of day. So if you activated the pass at 6PM on Saturday, it expires 6PM on Sunday.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

If they put bus lanes on the Gardiner and extend the ones on the DVP straight to downtown then that immediately makes transit an attractive option. This could be very useful when they finish RER and sometimes we get the "shuttle bus" experience like on TTC.

    Brampton Transit/Zum

Running more artics and increasing service on the core routes should help quite a lot. When the proposed service hours for 2024 can actually happen, here's what should be the priority at minimum: 501: 5 mins all day combined, including bringing back 501A, 12-15 mins on both Saturday/Sunday...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The Oakville-Milton branch should be called the 20 again at least during rush hours if they don’t want to run their “train replacement bus” service in the peak direction. Oakville has really grown with transit as there’s about 10-15 min service combined on Trafalgar between all the GO and OT...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The new 21 service would've been better if there was 15 min all day service again on Lakeshore. Have the Oakville only trains connect to the buses and it wouldn't feel like an overstuffed journey or make the overall time feel longer than it is. But I agree with running half direct and half...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Well a weak backbone for specific transit agencies are pretty common here in the GTA. Look at 501 Zum Queen especially on weekends, Viva Blue drops to 20 min service at night, and the DRT 900 Pulse I believe used to run its full Scarborough-Durham run at least every 15 mins now its a terrible 30...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

6 cars is the LAST thing that the Kitchener line needs right now don't understand why they don't get that this line suffers the most on weekends at all times of the day. However if it does mean that all other times where it isn't noted that they're running 6 cars, and instead running longer...
