Agreed. Governments should be embarrassed how wasteful they are of taxpayer money. There was a good, well consulted AND funded transit plan that was completely thrown out. It could've been modified to find cost efficiencies and improve concerns with station placement. Let's also remember that...

Something about not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

    I deserve a Starbucks because I'm a millennial.

Sure. But there's no getting around engineering, all the visual mass serves a necessary function. You can only minimize that soo much, but still have to deal with the reality of putting a station footprint that would normal be surface or below ground in the sky. The most successful elevated...

See the Canada line as an example of how easy it is to underestimate demand. I agree all stations should be 100m (with perhaps the option of expanding to 120m).

Technology has definitely progressed, but there's no getting around how visually bulky stations would be in the middle of the street. A good example would be Brentwood station on the Millennium line.

I would say no as while the government owns the land the airport itself is owned and managed by a nonprofit.

I really only matters if the TTC was responsible for maintenance of OL (which they're not), as maintaining too many different types of rolling stock would be difficult.

The cost savings realized would not be with this as utility relocation would often be part of total cost.

QC funds transit much better and always has.

    Golden Mile Secondary Plan Study

I think it was the right decision. The area and the area where a extension would travel will likely always be surrounded by industrial or single family homes off the main Street. Regardless of what people want to say, elevated rail does not create a very walkable urban environment.

I'm sure we'll see revisions with some of René Lévesque being underground....and possible extension West to Lachine.

Yes, that makes sense. I really think the whole 401 should be tolled

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

I hope we can shift the narrative to its unfair NOT to toll roads. The sooner we do that the sooner we incentivize more sustainable transportation methods. Really the only logical reason to support a freeway on prime waterfront land is to have it serve transportation trucks. But we know the...

There must a miscommunication and/or mistake in translation to English. I have a hard to seeing far more residential/suburban streets like Lacordaire and Dickson being underground sections and much more urban René Lévesque being elevated.

That may be true, but the linkage to increased construction costs can't be correlated to interest rates. I would look towards the fact needed projects were deferred by decades and now we're scrambling to build all these projects with a labour shortage. Many European cities avoid this by...
