    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I think you need a new acronym when the proposal involves total destruction of a person's home.

^Sounds like some absurd assumptions to get those numbers. Like if a route needed 2 buses for 15 minute frequency on a 29 minute long route, they'd definitely go to 3 buses if the route became 30 minutes 10 seconds long. Not to mention the likely shift to transit on demand in a lot of...

It looks like the bus stops are pretty much ride next to where the raised crossing will go. So a bus would either be about to stop, or departing from a stop. All while in a playground zone. Any impact should be negligible.

^ Thanks, I wasn't aware of the accident history there (figured it was just a traffic discouragement strategy for them rich folk).

Can you elaborate on this? Not totally getting the connection with the Elbow Drive example?

^With a sign pole obstacle to boot. I wonder if some of the thinking (if there is any) is to force cyclists to slow down a bit...but I think we either have an instinct for self preservation or we don't. Navigating all of these little obstacles inherently takes at least some attention away...

Maybe we can find paint that lasts more than 2 years while we are at it. I feel like there is reasonable understanding that green paint = cyclist space, so green elephant feet might be the optimal. This is where I'd rather 'cheap out' on the travel sections and invest more heavily at...

I had a front row seat to witness one of my biggest concerns with some of the latest cycling infrastructure play out (the ups and downs and ups and downs at intersections on 24 Ave NW, Montgomery, etc) I was driving WB on Bowness Road and the second car in line to turn left onto the little 49...

    Calgary Transit

I think there are plenty of daily riders who would buy 1 ticket for the week and only activate when necessary. So they'd go to paying $14.40 per month instead of $112. But, since the current system does allow for this, the delta for going to say a 30 day expiry might be like $10.80, depending on...

I do wonder if there are more safety concerns when none of the intersections are signalled. Maybe they would kill LH turns at most of them? I find it clumsier to get onto/off of 2-way tracks. Option 3 works well because there is a signalled pedestrian crossing at 22nd St. But with option 1, I'd...

I believe 26th is slated for repaving this year? Hopefully they can execute this project at the same time (probably delay the repaving by a year?)... I strongly prefer Option 2. I hate the up and down and up and down of a MUP, especially on an avenue with short blocks. I'd hate to ride...

I love that one light standard in the middle of the lane (presumably those lights are fairly new, too?) Also odd that there is only a lane on one side.

    Calgary | Stephen Avenue Quarter | 241m | 66s | Triovest | Gibbs Gage

I think it would probably work better IRL without all the green (realistically you might get like 5% of that green?)

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Completely agree, but I also think there are times where that just may not be possible. I look at this like a cycling version of Deerfoot NB to Glenmore WB...it's a spot that would absolutely warrant an optimal flow design for all users, but some constraints just make it not feasible. At least...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Yup, it should be more incumbent on cyclists to yield and proceed safely through a mixed zone like that. I would be nice if there was a visual indicator for pedestrians, too, but I'm not sure how much that would really move the needle for pedestrian awareness

Pictures can be deceiving and probably flatten the slope, but that looks a lot easier to cross than previous years, where the ice looks a lot more slipper and at a steeper angle

    Calgary | Calgary Event Centre | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I don't care about the no gooders up north, but I could see an argument that a city with a larger parasite population and smaller internal base could warrant more fund smoothing by the province.

I'm curious how this works...isn't selling public land supposed to be fairly open/transparent?

Sounds like a deal (or at least some major news) will be announced this afternoon.

But neither are bikes or e-bikes... The speed limit only maybe sorta kinda justifies sidewalk use
