Okay, but what constraints/assumptions did he have to work within at the time? Both budgetary and in terms of political appetite for deleting vehicle lanes, etc. Perhaps he could/should have been more at the forefront of time-travelling the public conversation closer to present ideas (many of...

Did the railyard HAVE to be in the SE though? I've forgotten the exact rationale for not using Aurora business park, but I think it was something about that area having too much other development, which has not panned out at all...(I've always speculated that some key influencers have personal...

That can't possibly be finished...where is the obstacle course?

Considering how bad ice has been on regular sidewalks this year this glacier is probably thicker than ever. I wonder if it would last until August with no intervention from a city crew?

Does the western section of 8th really need to be 2-way for cars? Why not just 1 WB lane and keep the protected bike lanes?

A complete guess on per ticket margins isn't a very useful metric to consider...especially when you have to way it against operating expenses that can only be easily summed on an annual basis. They have to pay staff for ~5 hours, even though 95% of the revenue is generated in the half hour...

Or just make trains absolutely positively Priority #1 - there is no reason they ever need to stop at lights, it seems instead we've made a choice to prioritize timed signals on 9th/6th/5th (or perhaps it's for timed signals on those N-S roads...I don't drive them enough to know if they are well...

I'd be interested in the math/modelling to quantify the 'benefits' of interchanges vs. no-interchange. I suspect the perceived benefit is much greater than the actual benefit. Lets take NB Sarcee from that example (unfortunately the last published count is from 2017, but we can guess the growth...

I've always been really curious how 2nd St SW was chosen, and why it has never been reconsidered when seeking cost reductions (though 10 vs 11 vs 12 Ave and grade has always had a lot more discussion). I have a sad feeling that the reasoning is as simple as 'it wouldn't lose any traffic lanes'...

The ER question is an interesting one - I might actually be able to get access to some of that data. I wonder how many of those falls lead to surgeries. I think you're bang on with the sun level - I have a a perfectly south facing driveway/sidewalk, but a few moderately tall spruce trees across...

Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be far more mini-glaciers running across sidewalks this year (primarily residential)? It makes me wonder if we should have better engineering to get meltwater from homes/lawns to the street drains instead of just shooting it across sidewalks and hoping...

You should report that on google maps - I do it all the time for bike paths. Though I just fiddled and didn't have any issue with it directing me to either BRT stop for a transit route in either direction

Sure, but the other lots he was suggesting are used for the midway/attractions/operations I'm sure the lot generates great revenue for parking, but it looks like a little over 250 stalls...not the most efficient use of space even if they manage to turn it over 2-3 times in a day.

Ummm...because those spaces are a little busy during Stampede?

Not to mention financing costs...though I'm not sure if these kinds of projects would feel rate increases quite as dramatically?

It's amazing how terrible the experience must be to walk from University District to Market Mall.

It would probably have to be a bit of a gradual shift, but if you can map the plan enough in advance then people could/should make their lifestyle choices accordingly. By trying to serve fewer people you would probably make the service good enough that you end up serving more. When it comes to...

This is a bit of a half-baked thought, but I'm honestly starting to wonder if 'exile' shouldn't be on the menu of possible options here (recidivist summary offenders getting their choice of prison vs treatment vs exile). What I imagine is pretty much just prison with way more freedom and a lot...
