I honestly don't get the hate on for these buildings. They look fine to me. I'm not an architect, mind you. My interest is in the urban form. But most people aren't architects. As long as a building doesn't look out of context and isn't overtly ugly they're fine with it. These buildings aren't...

    Toronto Toronto | 2180 Yonge | 247m | 65s | Oxford Properties | Hariri Pontarini

I think putting a park at one of Toronto's most important urban intersections is bizarre and unnecessary, especially in such a shaded and windswept location. Why not deck over the TTC rail line to the south down to Davisville and put a park there?

Perhaps some UT architects could mock up some alts. We could have a contest.

I think you can extend and repeat the same elements.. It's not fakery to build something referencing the same style. So it's a little Chateau Frontenac-y.. I think the new built should not be a complete contrast. They tried that in the first iteration. It was an nsult to the existing building. A...

    Westin Harbour Castle (?, ?, ?)

I don't think anyone doesn't see the value in high quality greenspace along the central waterfront. But waterfront greenspace already exists in juxtaposition to the west and most of the waterfront to Bathurst Quay is parkland. More greenspace would be nice but is it worth the cost of...

Downtown Toronto 3D model in Second Life

Fantastic. Are you taking this all the way to Steeles? Are you going to join it to the main area for the ultimate fly through?

I agree. It should at the least be mid-rise. They should NOT be building townhouses on land so close to the city core. And yes, given the scale of crisis they should be altering their current plans. It seems a no-brainer.

That is a really good photo.

I'm glad this is happening but it's a tad ironic that the city continues to develop its lands (Regent Park, Alexandra Park) in a manner that underutilizes their potential for density. We're in the midst of an affordability crisis that is in large part a product of inadequate supply and they're...

    Toronto Toronto | TOOR Hotel / The 203 Residences on Jarvis | 108.2m | 32s | Manga | Arcadis

It's a hodge podge in my view. No element connects with the any other. What is the point of those balconies? Are they even balconies? The top half looks like a game of kerPlunk. It's different alright but different doesn't = good.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

I've often thought this. Is there a reason why it can't be done? There are many examples of buildings constructed over ground level expressways but I couldn't find any over elevated expressways. It would certainly solve a number of problems if it could be done.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Has there been a decision of which hybrid design option is going forward?

Glad to see brick. Should fit into the street quite nicely.

    Downtown Markham

The eastern edge of Downtown Markham is separated from the GO station by 600m of unused scrub. Are there plans to eventually build to the station? Are there plans to extend the BRT to the station? Most of the development seems to be happening to the west.

How do they get the heavy machinery out? It intuitively seems too heavy for a crane. Are they disassembled?

I think it's a mistake not to build a pedestrian realm on the Jane St. side.

Both Trinity Bellwoods and KEW have smaller frontages than their total width. Whether they're public or private, open spaces tends to to deaden a street if they're not well-used. Enclosed spaces feel more comfortable and secure, especially if they are open to the public.
