    Calgary | BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Still going. The link information says October 13 and 14th 2023, but they are also having it this year October 18 and 19th 2024. Clicking on the link gives updated info. https://rockymountainwine.com/event/calgary/event-details/

    Calgary | BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

I checked the place out this morning, I have to say it is an impressive facility. Hundred times nicer than the old BMO Centre. It’s fairly typical sterile feel of a convention centre but they used a lot of warm colours, and overall the interior has a warm feel to it. Some big wide windows with...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Now that all the utility/infrastructure work is done, the city is gong to start selling parcels at Midfield https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/city-launches-sales-for-housing-parcels-at-site-of-former-mobile-home-park-1.7224657

April stats for YYC out. Similar to March with domestic seeing a drop, but trans-border and international up.

Probably technical issues they’ve been having a lot of that lately.

Came here to announce the Calgary to Munich direct flight announcement, but somebody’s already beaten me to it! Anyhow, good news to see another direct flight to Europe.

Residents will enjoy having a Shoppers'. Ubiquitous for sure, but very handy. Pho shop is icing on the cake :)

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

The ratios are similar to 2020/2021 as well where Calgary was a solid 4th. The big three have gotten the most, but in per capita terms, Calgary has done better. On a per capita basis only Kitchener/Waterloo has done better, which isn't surprising.

    Calgary International Airport

Video from Alex Praglowski covering the inaugural flight to Seoul. He makes some interesting comments regarding the fleet of 7 x 787s and I tend to agree with him. WS can still focus on going the 737 route, but if they are going to service this many overseas destinations, there going to need to...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I hear you and I feel that way at times also, other times, I think we're a city of 1.5 million, in a province that has some money. We should spend the money and get this done properly, even if it costs extra. We aren't going to build another separate rail line for a long time - only extensions...

    Statscan numbers

I haven't been to SSP for a while, but the Calgary section is dead, so no point in going there, and the Canada section is inherently toxic. It's always going to be a city vs city section, and that won't ever change, so point in visiting there either. The last few times I've visited the Canada...

    17th Ave Car Free Discussion

I submitted my feedback. Unless you love the smell of car exhaust, the sound of loud motorbikes, crowded sidewalks and gridlocked traffic for no particular reason, there's no reason not to do this.

    Calgary | West Tenth 1400 | 24m | 7s | Trimount

A couple of years ago I would have confidently said more development there was going to happen, but these days I honestly don't know. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but the residential development trend is blocks and blocks of 6 storey wood frame builds in places like Seton, Skyview, Sage...

I take that as sign that there has been activity with the DP itself, as the mistake probably wouldn't have happened if the DP was dead.

    Calgary | Versant | 16m | 5s | Eagle Crest | FAAS Architecture

It’s too bad the city doesn’t do its annual census anymore, or at least one every few years. I’d like to see what the population of Bankview looks like. We’ve seen some recent builds such as grow, Nimmons Court and that other build further up 26th Ave. And we have a few builds going up now.

If I recall correctly, that building was torn down around 1993. I was living in lower Mount Royal at that time and I remember them it down, but I can’t remember the exact year. Those were in my prime partying years, so it’s kind of a blur.

It was indeed the tallest. My dad had some connection to the project, I don’t remember in what capacity exactly but he mentioned it a few times.

    Calgary Transit

Unfortunately this is the closest we have to stats for stations, unless someone has newer info somewhere. From 20 years ago, but at least it gives somewhat an idea of which stations are the busiest, but that will have changed for some stations over the past 20 years. NE LINE STATION...
