    Mississauga Toronto | Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

That it is such a slam dunk project is precisely the reason why it's taken so long to be built. That's how transit projects work in the GTA. It really should have been part of the original Master Plan redevelopment from the late 90's/mid 2000's Personal note I'd really like for this station...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Where was the Hwy 7 station located and when did it close? I always thought it never got off the proposal page.

    Mississauga Toronto | Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

Still none of them have the check in terminal literally off site across the street from the airport grounds. An alternative would be to convert the parking garage into the check in terminal. Move parking close to the transit hub location (see existing value park parking lot surrounding the Alt...

    Mississauga Toronto | Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

As noted the airports listed differ from YYZ in that they feature multiple (more than two) terminals and a people mover connecting the main check in call to the 'satellite' terminals. But also the check in terminals are on the Airport grounds proper, not some remote site on the other side of a...

    Mississauga Toronto | Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

Honest question. Are there any other airports where check in is so far away from the main terminal building(s)? I'm really not a fan of check in at the Transit Hub

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

That post is over 13 yrs old! I don't know what I might have been talking about. However I think the main point is that the collector-express system on the 401 breaks down through this stretch creating a bottleneck.

    VIA Rail

Now if we had a BRT running in the medians with limited stop spacing, maybe public transit would be competitive with private vehicles along those corridors.

    Blasphemy!

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I'm not keen on tables out in the middle of the great hall, though most of the foot traffic runs on the lower concourses the great hall needs to accommodate free movement through it. I still think that a fine dining (steakhouse etc) restaurant belongs at union.

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Not to mention, the orange square is 4 square Km large, ~2 Km wide at it's widest point. For comparisons, Union station's building covers approx 70,000 (!) square METRES! Even counting the approach tracks gets us to ~120,000 square m. And on the Union station W proposal by the GTAA, even a...

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Even the airport terminal is a ways away from the proposed station. How do they expect their imaginary passengers are going to get to the terminal? Walk? People mover?

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

That, or are they simply aping the GTAA's marketing strategy for Pearson Airport. Right down to the Union Station East/West naming convention. Re. Hamilton as Greater Toronto's secondary airport hub. I'd love to see Munro leveraged as Toronto's second/alternative international airport. The...

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Looks to be the home plate area? The 100 level seats used to be on two giant rails that allowed them to split open for football mode. Those seats are gone and the rail mechanism is likely being dug up as well. Also those new seats would need footings to be dug. And the premium spaces behind...

    Pickering Toronto | Seaton Sideline 22 | ?m | ?s | Mattamy Homes

We saved this prime farmland from an airport only to turn it over to suburbia. Paving over farms is paving over farms.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Even a pedestrian walk way somewhere through Main Sq Community Centre, or Canadian Tire parking lot would make that connection easier (no climbing the ramp only to walk back down a potentially icy slippery slope to get to Main). Problem is that the self store garages are in the way.

    Hamilton International Airport

Accessibility from the provincial highway network is critical to making YHM a viable alternative to YYZ

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I took transit for 20+ years. Never been assaulted, yelled at. Never felt un safe, never been approached by weirdos. I sat down minded my own business and got off at my station. Just because you don't feel safe, does not mean it is not safe.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Not to mention the fact that even a minor fender bender comes with financial burdens that they don't think about in the same way that they do with the potential for bodily harm on transit. There's costs to repair the vehicle, increased insurance costs, time lost dealing with the consequences of...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

How often has the 401 been not under construction in the GTA? How often has there not been a lane closure due to an accident. You are downplaying the dangers of driving while over stating the dangers of transit.
  20. W

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Public transit by it's very nature is much more personal than driving is. That has nothing to do with feeling safer on transit than in a car, it's simply that the danger or aggression is felt much more personally. You whinge about daily incidents on transit. Yet how many vehicles speed down...
