    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

Anyone else go to the Information Session for this development today in Eau Claire Mall? There were representatives from the City, the Developer and Architect. It gave some additional insight into the overall "vision" of Eau Claire. It also provided the opportunity to speak with those closely...

    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

Incredibly disappointed that the City allowed this one is its submitted form. Really cannot believe that they are allowing this developer to completely change an entire area of the city that has character and historic significance in the name of "revitilization". The mall needs to do go, but the...

    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

Bloody hell. There goes any character that Eau Claire had! No more Barley Mill and Joeys. Come on city development, this is an entire area that is getting the bulldozer for developer cash..

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I personally hope it is still in the works. I think it is something you would see in a city like Van or Toronto. The architect speaks of it as a current under development project however it may be that they have not updated their website in 10 years!

    Calgary | Residence Inn by Marriott | 127.10m | 36s | GWL | IBI Group

I don't think many people did, myself included. However, they have spent some time with the architectural features and are using decent materials. This quality spandrel is what "should" have been used on Mark on 10th and not the paper covered glass that was value engineered into that project.

Yeah, not the greatest design, similar in scale and quality to The Met. The density will be good. I have huge hopes for that huge abandoned lot across the street where the Safeway used to be. I note that the application was made by http://abugovkaspar.com I do not see this conceptual design...

First concrete pour at Underwood. Likely for the crane base.

I think this one has some great features.

Interesting. I used to live around that area and always wondered why it wasn't developed. Will be disappointing if its only a single story. That area could use some mid size residential but I can see that happening as its next to the train. But then again, it's close to the river and Kensington.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I know, crazy really. I know that the Curtis Block is along a bad stretch of road but when a City makes the decision to demolish a block of heritage buildings to build a gravel parking lot something is seriously wrong. The Arlington proposal would be the beginning of the end for the original...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Hi Folks, I have a keen interest in architecture and particularly historic buildings. I come from Europe and I grew up with them all around me. Calgary is a young city and therefore has a decent but limited supply of old architecture. Of late, I have come to discover how much of Calgary has...

    Reclads

The scaffolding is permanent alright. However, they have obviously removed the siding on the north face as you can see the membrane. They yellow was definitely not there before either..

    Reclads

Speaking of re-clads, I walked by this today. Anything would be an improvement over what this building looks like now

    Calgary | 1520 | 135m | 38s | Grosvenor | McKinley Burkart

That is true. It did look A LOT more expensive. However, for a project like that in that location, cheaping out and going with Stantec might result in a run of the mill bunch of buildings. Thats just my two sense, I personally thought that the MODA design would have signifcantly stood out and...

    Calgary | 1520 | 135m | 38s | Grosvenor | McKinley Burkart

What ever happened to MODA being attached to this project? I personally thought their design was far superior than the current renderings.

    General Construction Updates

Yes, that is the one I was referring to alright. I understand what you mean however filler shouldn't be used on a corner lot that is so visible from one of the most vibrant streets in Calgary. They have struggled to get tenants and the ones that they did manage to fill include a Flight Centre...

    Calgary | The George on 17th | ?m | 8s | Truman Development | NORR

I agree. Arlington Street seem to have something against older buildings with character. They own the old Bank of Montreal on 8th i.e. Chicago Chophouse, and have plans to knock it down soon. They also own the old block of buildings that houses Commonwealth Bar & Nightclub. I'm sure that they...

    General Construction Updates

Correct. I think its great. The the smaller corner one at the other side of the street beside the Rose & Crown is a cheap looking mess though so hopefully this will give the street some life.
