Reposting the link to the website, in case it adds more information at 7:00 PM this evening.

So it's taller than predicted? Maybe over 300m? I guess we will know a lot more soon, starting 148 minutes from now.

An 8-storey podium? We have been told that there will be 7 floors of high-end retail (some of which I assume might be below ground level), so there would be at least one floor of non-retail in the podium, maybe more. I'm guessing amenities. Pools (in the plural) were mentioned earlier.

I doubt that Foster would allow that to happen. While Mizrahi has no doubt given overall style guidelines (it sounds to me like they would involve a general Deco-like quality, in spirit if not in detail), it would presumably be up to Foster to design something that fits those guidelines and...

Victoria123 on SSC found this article on The One. From the article:

Since the USA has 9 times the population of Canada, I would expect 9 times as many office towers at each level of design excellence. So the 5th-best office tower in Canada should be compared to the 45th-best office tower in the USA, for a truly fair comparison. I suspect that they would be quite...

It does look like that is what is coming together, from Yonge to Lower Jarvis. Is there any news about the Loblaws site being developed? I can see it staying where it is, what with all the new potential customers moving practically next door, but it would also be a prime development site in its...

Great find coldblood, concerning this specific design information concerning The One.

Definitely better looking than the old preliminary renders from earlier.

The rule of thumb I have seen for a large project is a year to excavate (longer if the pit is unusually deep or difficult), and a year to rise back to ground level. They seem to be right where I would expect them to be after a year and three months.

I read the first few lines and then gave up. It was too much effort to try to read. If you want people to actually read what you write, break up the text into reasonable-sized paragraphs.

I am sure that the St. Charles Tavern was well-known in Toronto and to a lesser degree in the rest of the GTA, but nationally? Much less so (outside of the LGBT community). Growing up in NW Ontario in the 1970s, I had never heard of the St. Charles Tavern, but every time a CBC news story...

    Toronto Toronto | IMMIX | 131.06m | 38s | QuadReal | a—A

Both the Sam the Record Man sign and the St Charles Tavern clock tower served as highly visible signposts to indicate the location of a significant gathering place for a fraction of the population of Toronto. The St. Charles Tavern was obviously the more significant in meaning of the two, to the...

    Toronto Toronto | IMMIX | 131.06m | 38s | QuadReal | a—A

It's funny that many of the same people here who are so outraged that anybody suggests that the clock tower might not be worth conserving, are perfectly fine with Ryerson reneging on their agreement to display the Sam the Record Man sign -- which was arguably just as important to the cultural...

    Toronto Toronto | The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

I would expect something taller than that. A typical 80-story residential tower in Toronto would be about that height, but this is being presented as a high-end luxury tower -- and at anything close to $1 billion in total cost to build it had better be! Genuine luxury towers in the rest of the...

You mean the lack of a podium? Yes, I like that too. I've never been a big fan of podiums myself, preferring the clean look of a tower vertically descending all the way to street level.

The term 'exoskeleton' used in the description made me think of this finalist for the Absolute World design competition:
