    Toronto Toronto | Union Park | 303.26m | 58s | Oxford Properties | Pelli Clarke Pelli

In this thread, the June update mentions park over the railway. The UT synopsis mentions the approval went ahead with money set aside for parkland with no mention of the park over the railway. Are both happening (park over railway + $ for parkland) or have things changed with the park over...

That train is so big! Can't believe the day is coming soon for the suburbs to get this big upgrade.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Yes. It might be in the Transit City docs and has been mentioned on this thread. As you get closer to Yonge the ROW is too narrow and would require the line to be underground.

    Bloor Street West Bike Lanes

Depends what section you are speaking about in particular, some parts are narrow too. I frequent Bloor in the central part of the city where there are many big vehicles due to all the construction and haven't seen any issues. Any particular area you are thinking about?

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

To reiterate, I often take the kids to playgrounds weekend mornings between 9-12. At these times, it's not lively (we were often the only family there) and a few times we've found adults in the playground equipment which forced us to go elsewhere. The playground is ok (not great) which doesn't...

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

We discussed this park earlier in the thread, it may be a success for certain demographics, but not for children /parents. A fence around the entire playground might help. We tried a few times and now we don't bother with this park anymore.

I would assume the vast majority of rentals in the area fall under the rent control legislation. I think the problem is when people move out and the rents can jump + no limits on commercial rent hikes. I don't think there is any pricing out or did I miss something?

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

Looking at this 'small park' review makes me think what if we were to focus on making our small parks great (low hanging fruit, costs less) then move on to getting our big parks right.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

For any on street bicycle lanes, they may have more success with sustaining bike lanes if they get driver coalitions onside from the beginning. I don't know what that necessarily looks like (CAA?), but it would be best not to remove lanes later.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

That seems like a good potential route option. The question is whether it's a good spend of ~$5 billion at this time (using SSE cost/km).

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

"45. What will be the frequency of the train on and off-peak? A total of 15 Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) will be operating during both morning and afternoon peak hours, with 5 minutes in between trains (also known as "5- minute headway"). During off-peak hours, there will be 7 to 10 minutes...

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

Hopefully LV will be able to use the tunnels for shuttle buses if/when the TBC ditches the project.

Do the electrical poles (don't know the right term) carry the local electrical power in addition to LRT power? I drove along the east side and noticed that the poles were huge compared to the ones on St Clair, that there were two sets of wires and none along the road. I don't remember reading...
