Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

JUST ONE MORE TRACK BRO, I SWEAR JUST ONE MORE TRACK! /s but seriously, if GO cant provide amazing service with 5 tracks, ill be pissed. At that point just pack it in, give up.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The study has looked at several options, both diverting some Kitchener Line trains down the Fergus sub as a spur and its own DMU service, which would require a transfer at Guelph and really be a train that only goes between Cambridge and Guelph.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

It was a flawed study that didn't consider changing from the current fleet to EMU's. It looked at the effect of said stations without changing the type of equipment which is really bone headed.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Saw this map in this article https://www.therecord.com/news/waterloo-region/kitchener-to-ask-province-to-extend-urban-boundary-for-future-development/article_2afebdcb-e05f-59f2-a807-4b99dffb47fa.html I see the ION LRT with Cambridge extension, but what is the other red line? Going east/west?

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Just put 407 style cameras on each intersection and don't ban cars but toll them to use the Transit mall. If you want to go through straight its $5 per intersection, or whatever. Then use the funds for TTC maintenance costs. Give Taxicabs transponders.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I still think the subway extension was a bad idea, but making lemonade out of lemons, I will say that now there will be so much space for activities for GO. You could basically quad track from Kennedy to Ellesemere

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

i'm curious what percentage of old livery painted cars are left in the GO system?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Toronto completely lacking any sense of a mid-rise/low-rise development is what contributed to this. We are a city of skyscrapers and detached housing. The dropoff in density when you leave the downtown core is shocking when you come from other cities.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Exactly, its not that the airport needs to compete with the advantages of putting condos on the Island, the idea of condos on the island needs to compete with the massive amount of land that is available for development in other, much cheaper and easier parts of Toronto.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Take that Rob Ford! 13 years after you tried to kill the streetcars in Toronto and we are still making more of them.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Lets hope, and lets hope that if the bus is actually used, even a bit, they add that ridership to the LRT ridership estimates. I can see the headlines now complaining that the Crosstown didnt meet expected ridership, meanwhile this dumb bus is bleeding off riders.
  12. R

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

Totally. However I think, as others have said, most of the trips would be London, Kitchener, Guelph. Not to mention that with GO you can just show up, and VIA sometimes gets prohibitively expensive. There are advantages to GO over VIA, especially for the budget conscious who would already be...

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

I believe if the province had put GO trains from London at times that actually competed or replaced the cancelled Greyhound bus, including weekends, it would have been popular. Instead they touted it as a commuter train, and NO one is going to sit on a train for 8 hours a day in this WFH post...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

UGH they aren't going to have a stupid bus running along Eglinton like they have the 97 for the subway are they? The stop spacing is not that far! Its so not needed. Thats why we built a freaking LRT! To get rid of the bus!! If you can't walk 500m thats what WheelTrans is for... FFS

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

To support GO trains they would have to replace the track anyways though. Technically simple, but politically it might be problematic.

    Toronto Toronto | 265 Balliol | 91.43m | 27s | Park Property | BDP Quadrangle

This is an old post but I just wanted to comment that the land from Balliol to Davisville and from Yonge to Mount Pleasant is zoned for rental only by the city of Toronto. All of the 9 or so new towers going up there MUST be purpose built rentals, condo ownership is not allowed on this land.

    VIA Rail

I am someone who has alternative viewpoints a lot of times compared to more urbanist centric posters here, and I've never once read something he's written and completely disagreed with it haha.
  18. R

    Montréal Transit Developments

I mean, at the end of the day these are all government owned crown corporations. The majority of the money is all coming from the same place at the end of the day. The REM will increase ridership and potential profit on the Deux-Montagnes line then its a net benefit for the Quebec and Canadian...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yes, im saying we are getting some of those stations because of the Smarttrack program, not that this map or those stations were ever his idea alone. But as far as I know, none of the stations related now to Smarttrack were ever planned by GO beyond these dots on a map. The "50 GO Stations"...
