    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It will always be the "Hurontario Line" to me. I don't even refer to the subways by their numbers and still find myself calling them the Yonge, University & Bloor lines.

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

No one is buying Chinese made EVs. "Made in China" has too much stigma in the western world. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/economy/article/2024/05/04/belgium-s-ports-drowning-under-glut-of-chinese-electric-cars-some-are-parked-here-for-a-year-sometimes-a-year-and-a-half_6670373_19.html

2024 Mississauga Mayoral Byelection Transit Plans

Didn't the federal government already approve funding for a BRT along Dundas? Why are we talking about a LRT now?

2024 Mississauga Mayoral Byelection Transit Plans

I always envisioned a BRT on Erin Mills and Dixie. Lakeshore will be tough. Lack of space for bus lanes in Clarkson and Port Credit.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Now that REM has been up and running for some time, what's the consensus on scrapping the EXO line for the REM? Was it a good idea?

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Assuming underground trains will travel faster than street level trains, won't this leading to a bunching up of eastbound, surface level trains as they leave the underground portion? Not to mention trains in the underground portion don't have to deal with red lights between stations.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Here we go.... We were promised rapid transit. Billions of dollars and over a decade of construction, for this? We could have built a subway with the amount of time & money we spent constructing this LRT.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Your trying to shift the goal posts in anticipation of the mass disappointment that will surly ensue when people see how slow this LRT is. When people hear the word "rapid" the implication is "fast". I'm not anti LRT. I'm not against the LRT projects in Mississauga or Hamilton. There was no...

Subways are also great at bypassing traffic while still being able to travel at high speeds. So are BRTs.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm not sure I'm believing what I'm reading. The posted speed limit for these streets is between 50-60km/h. But you're telling me none of these trains will exceed 30km/h? Is that correct or am I misreading something?

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

So why was this billed as rapid transit?

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm finding it really underwhelming how slow these trains are moving. I seriously hope these are just testing speed. These don't look anywhere as fast as the C-Trains in Calgary. EDIT: I'm not Ramsey Kilani. I just agree with his sentiment.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I find myself asking this so often with MX. And some people are convinced that electrification of the network is only a couple years away. 🙄

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

It's all about "time" for me. I'll sacrifice some comfort if the train gets back to Toronto quicker. And I say that as a frequent driver. In fact the only reason I drive so much is because in a lot of cases it's usually quicker than taking transit. Particularly when travelling between suburbs...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

This has always been my mentality towards transit. The goal should be to make transit enticing to drivers. Convenient, fast, safe, clean, etc. Problem is a lot of people within the urbanist community would rather slag on drivers, gaslight them, and take their cars away from them. It's no...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Is that about as fast as they'll go once the line opens? Or is that just testing speed? A lot of the cars looked like they were passing the trains. Will the trains travel faster when underground?

That video is sped up for a reason, autonomous shunt trucks are incredibly slow. A skilled shunter would be more productive than 3 of these combined.

Someone weeks ago said debating with you is "circular". I'm beginning to understand now.

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

I work in Intermodal for CN rail. I deal with truck drivers everyday. You're never going to get an autonomous truck to come into the intermodal yard and grabs it's container full of Ontario asparagus. Not unless CN completely redesigns their intermodal yard to accommodate autonomous trucks...
