I often see people with a child have the child on the step in front of them, although that really only works when going up since the child would be at an elevation where you could lift them to help them exit. As you mention, there are always exceptions - your child example being one, likewise...

I would say it's a courtesy on the part of the people giving way, rather than an entitlement for the beneficiary. i.e. you often see clusters of people walking 4 abreast down a city sidewalk. It's not unreasonable for them to reconfigure when passing others into 2x2s so people in the opposing...

Yeah, I pause the texting for certain things - stairs, crosswalks and puddles. *** PS - Transit agencies like people to walk slowly, because it spaces people out so the platforms are not overcrowded. That's one of the reasons why modern subway transfer stations have long corridors instead of...

Maybe the solution is for people on both sides to walk? The stairs do, however, provide a good option - both up and down - they would be faster than just standing still on an escalator.... although I doubt you can eliminate the tripping hazard on stairs due to the need to move your feet. The...

They probably want a separate route to the ECLRT platform that does not overload the Line 1 centre platform. They could have gotten away with just a west or east -2 level mezzanine but that would have added congestion to the existing concourse.

wmedia said they look the same as the first tower in his/her post as well.

For the weld attachment points in the passage way (at level 2), are those for just an awning or will there be a full canopy spanning all the way across (like at The Well)? EDIT: I think I found it. Also shown at the architect's website: https://hariripontarini.com/projects/one-yonge/

    Hudson's Bay Company

Problems faced by Vancouver's Hudson's Bay. EDIT: Apparently this is at Joyce Station and it's from a store in Burnaby - so not downtown Vancouver HBC.

Looking good! It's beige, but it's brighter and doesn't look as drab as the first tower's podium panels.

... and Vancouver's 150 MKI's will become available in the upcoming years as the MKV's are delivered (first MKV trainset arrived last week) between now and 2028. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/mark-v-skytrain-first-cars-arrival-translink-vancouver-december-2023

Also during special track movements for maintenance. Here's a SkyTrain video showing single-tracking during a maintenance event. It shows car 312 short-turning (because of heavy loads to downtown TransLink runs a morning rush hour short-turn shuttle train to/from Commercial-Broadway Station)...

Nice, best shot I've seen of the design. I'm hoping the leaves light up once completed.

It just occurred to me that there aren't any/many large trees (in planters like TEC used to have) inside the concourse area.

Another factor is the number and length of the walk-through trains. Honolulu changed their mind and bought 4-car trains, not 2-car trains, without thinking of the operational flexibility of the 2-car trains. That's why TransLink in Vancouver stuck with 2-car trains and took a long time to buy...

    Yonge-Dundas Square/Sankofa Square (Brown + Storey Architects)

"TMU Station" won't mean much to tourists. But I guess "CF TEC Station" would be worse 😄

Very cool shot in there with the Eaton Centre atrium ony half completed and the old Eaton's store still there on Queen St. I also didn't know that the Dundas tower also had a cenbtred "mouth".
