    VIA Rail

Not sure, but it isn’t a Northlander set, that is the reality.
  2. SaugeenJunction

    VIA Rail

As we have started numerous times, this is not a Northlander train because the Northlander trains are only scheduled to begin production this May. The train also has VIA logos, an agency completely separate and not involved with the Northlander. I am happy you’re happy the Northlander is...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Well the pictures from Sacramento are of a special livery VIA train, with VIA logos, and the VIA black stripe, unlike ONTC’s livery 1 which has a dark blue stripe. ONTC’s units are scheduled to begin production this May, so we’re still a while off from finished Northlander trains.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Great video. Metrolinx really likes their fences!

    VIA Rail

The chatter on some other sites is of a “special livery” VIA set, with this being it. It will be set number 18, and set 17 is about to ship. So I guess we will find out soon what the whole train looks like.

    VIA Rail

There is zero chance these are Northlander sets. ONTC’s sets only started construction this May, and I promise you they didn’t finish a Venture coach in 12 days. This coach is confirmed VIA.

    VIA Rail

It says VIA Rail all over the coach, so no.

    VIA Rail

It seems that a VIA Venture coach being finalized in Sacramento has a unique paint scheme (yellow on top and bottom). Any reason why this one has a different livery? Source.

ION was a Region of Waterloo-led project. IO did the procurement however.

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

This may be the ideal option. Union will be at capacity post OnCorr. Not to mention we can’t handle another line from the west entering union without an appropriate line pair.

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Bingo. To your last point, parallel tracks seem to be the key to unlocking passenger rail on CPKC corridors. We now have two examples of this in the GTHA: Milton and Bowmanville.

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

One of the most instructive things to consider when planning new heavy rail corridors is needed additional infrastructure. If you could serve Bolton with zero new infrastructure besides a station (think additional tracks), then sure, peak only service may be acceptable. If CPKC demanded a bunch...

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Peak-only services don’t make sense post COVID. Friendly reminder Caledon is also set to grow from 80k today to 350k by 2051. Let’s give them good transit now to help them maybe grow sustainably.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

SO EXCITING. What’s the source on this? Would love to see more!

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Looks like just a re-branding, and it makes sense given how active Vaughan is with pushing it forward. Bolton is still the terminus, and Bolton is a settlement area within the Town of Caledon.

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Yes, the term “Bolton Line” has been retired.
