I realize this is getting way off-topic, but for this Babyboomer, Queen and John, and more specifically 299 Queen St. West, will always be synonymous with City-tv. I still remember the day in 1987 when they moved there, and at the time, it seemed an event of epic proportions(and was played up as...

    Toronto Toronto | 66 Charles East | 35m | 9s | Aspen Ridge | BDP Quadrangle

As a stand-alone, I love this, but I'm surprised the same developer as the Charles next door would even try and get this one through, considering it will essentially destroy the sellability of those lower units facing that blank wall. On a better site, this would be an absolute winner and is...

We also need to bear in mind that we are in the very early days of a revolution in the workforce that will largely be driven by AI. The potential displacement of the office workforce will likely eclipse any impact that 'working from home' has on vacancy rates. I suspect we may see a time in the...

    Toronto Toronto | 40 Walmer | 116.65m | 35s | 2114778 Ontario Inc | Turner Fleischer

That modernist condo has a bit of a 'Jetsons'/LAX vibe going on. Kinda cool!

    Toronto Toronto | 90 Isabella Street | 228.1m | 69s | Capital Developments | Diamond Schmitt

I suppose what worries me most is the seeming alacrity with which the city approved this. The precedent was set long ago and is based on a false premise of historical/architectural conservancy that has now become dogma at city hall, namely that by preserving a facade or two or incorporating a...

    Toronto Toronto | 90 Isabella Street | 228.1m | 69s | Capital Developments | Diamond Schmitt

It looks as though it will still have to go before the 'Toronto Heritage Preservation Board' on Nov. 6., so there might still be a chance to save more of the houses. Mind you, considering the epidemic of 'facadectomies' that they've already pawned off on us as preservation these past few...

I agree. Even with the new setbacks, it still doesn't look great. Perhaps, in addition to the new setbacks, if they also moved the houses closer to the street(thus saving more of them), it might have helped with the illusion of conservation. This bodes poorly for those remaining mansions on...

    Toronto Toronto | Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I'm not sure this is the place to mention it, but there has been talk for years about the need for a 'Museum of Toronto'. Old City Hall has been proposed as a potential location for this museum in light of the transfer of the Ontario Courts of Justice to their new home on Armoury St., but I...

    Toronto Toronto | The RIV | 127.81m | 37s | Broccolini | Arcadis

Maybe it's symptomatic of our 'topsy-turvy' world, but I seem to prefer the podium on this one more than the tower itself!

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Seeing that the crane structure will be a permanent fixture, it sure would be cool if they could affix a live webcam atop it aimed at the skyline!

    Toronto Toronto | 100 Bond | 67.45m | 23s | Bazis | Rosario Varacalli

The tower itself(minus that podium) would be fine just about anywhere else downtown, but It's so disappointing that something more iconic isn't in the cards for such a prominent location. What an epic lack of vision and what a lost opportunity!

    Toronto Toronto | Nobu Residences Toronto | 156.66m | 45s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

I'd love to see it receive the same makeover that Temperance St. is getting.

    Toronto Toronto | 8 Camden | 58.15m | 19s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

It's good to see increased densification for the area, but for those south-facing units at 433 Richmond, their view will suck!

    St. Catharines Toronto | 88 James Street | 99.14m | 30s | Elite Developments | srm Architects

Clearly, they have a thing or two to learn from the big city across the lake!

    St. Catharines Toronto | 88 James Street | 99.14m | 30s | Elite Developments | srm Architects

With so many vacant lots in the downtown core, it's a shame we have to lose a heritage building for this one. Surely the city could've worked a bit harder with the developer to acquire an empty parcel of land or a parking lot elsewhere downtown?

    Toronto Toronto | The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Amazing images of the skyline! Anyone unfamiliar with the architecture could be forgiven for thinking this was Manhattan!

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

I wonder if there's any precedent for similarly large projects in TO that have blatantly disregarded the inspection/permit process...and what kind of penalties were dished out? Is it really likely that the city would force Concord to demolish all unpermitted work, or are hefty fines a more...

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

Can they be so foolhardy as to think no one at City Hall will take notice??

    Toronto Toronto | 8 Elm | 218.2m | 69s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

I couldn't agree more with the need to preserve this city's architectural heritage, and that includes its brutalist past. Though brutalism is not everyone's cup of tea, there are many 'fine' examples worthy of preservation, including the old Sears building at 222 Jarvis and the U of T Robarts...
