    The Condo Game [CBC Documentary]

Toronto condo boom a long term bust? I was surfing the web on info pertaining to our unprecedented condo boom, and came accross this CBC clip... http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/episodes/the-condo-game Being the least knowledgable here, I'd really appreciate your input, is this really the case...

That's one of the things I love most about this tower, combined with it's very distinctive design, it's now a major icon of our ever expanding skyline. It's a breath of fresh air in an sea of boring glass boxes, only wish they'd build more towers with unique designs, and less that look like a clone.

Errrr.....not that I care, at all, what she thinks, but I think I heard on the radio today (97.3) that when Madonna came to officially open Hard Candy, she commented that, and I quote "what an ugly F$@&ing building", but, I was flipping through stations and just caught a few seconds of what the...

You know what? I really hope I am proven wrong, maybe this building will help the area clean up it's image, but historically, it's always been an area plagued with crime. Question is, if the area is cleaned up, where do the, how shall I put this?, the scary residents go? You can only move the...

Agreed! You took the words right out of my mouth. Regardless of the intended use, I find it rather offensive to stereotype using racial demographics. Besides, what does race have to do with the quality of the food, there are thousands of "Chinese" born and raised here, who know as much about...

    Toronto Toronto | Dundas Square Gardens | 156.05m | 50s | Gupta | IBI Group

First, I wasn't accusing anyone of being too afraid to be in the area, and the homeless, as was said, aren't going anywhere. Sadly, they seem to be a component of most major world cities, I'm referring to the crime. Yes, Regent park is selling, as will most buildings built in the area, but just...

Errrr...you guys are really going to hate me for saying this, but are they sure about building in that area? Building such a sizeable condo in the middle of crack alley? One block away lies Dundas and Sherbourne, one of the most dangerous areas of the city, why would anyone capable of buying a...

I know I'm going to get rapped in the mouth for saying this, but essentially, isn't that saying that city council will look the other way and approve a project if the developer forks up enough cash to make it interesting? I know the cash is supposed to be ear marked for community improvements...

Totally agree, so what if we have the most construction in the Western Hemisphere?......I equate it to the food critics expression on the Simpsons who says "why make 31 flavours when you can't get vanilla right?" Why do they keep building these square boxes of glass (which, I might add, will not...

Thanks, but it's no big deal, it's just coffee, but I've found, in life, it's the little things that can mean the most. I call it random acts of kindness, I encourage all my fiends to do it. It makes you feel good, and it usually greatly appreciated, after all, we're all part of the same genetic...

Drove by the site a few days ago, amazing how fast they're finishing, I was watching the crew working hard, hanging off the side of the roof of the shorter tower, in minus 21, not counting the wind chill. I know they probably enjoy their jobs, but damn, I felt bad for them, they must be freezing...

I would ask that you speak for yourself, I love our ever expanding skyline. And secondly, we are not now, nor shall we ever be, NYC, so why compare the two?, it's apples and oranges. We are a relatively young city, considering our first big skyscraper boom never really started until the early...

Lol! I'm a renter, sadly, because of my health, my career, and income, has been staggered, I just love living in older, well established neighbourhoods, I'm definitely not your typical wealthy Rosedale resident, I just wish I was :p

What an amazing picture! Even back in 1930 Toronto was a booming city. I can remember my grandmother, born in St Michaels Hospital in 1910, telling us how fast the city grew even when she was a young lady. She also said back then, anything north or Yonge and Bloor was considered the country...

First, I hate you! (Lol) a Porsche? I can barely afford for 06' Grand Prix! (Granted, living on LTD isn't easy). But I totally agree. It's extremely small minded to assume just because you're living on top of a subway line that you don't need or have a car. I live in Rosedale, literally a few...

    Toronto Toronto | Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

It hasn't been for a while now. Usually I'm the driver, but wasn't feeling so hot yesterday, so I got my hubby to drive, and for once in years, I was the passenger. Returning from my folks in Burlington, we approached the city along the Gardiner, I couldn't believe my eyes. Guess when you're...

Ok, stupid question of the day (leave it to me), but is this to become the normal every winter? Or is it simply because the exposed concrete floors create more surface area for ice to build up on? I'm hoping once all cladding is complete, the ice will have nothing to take hold of, otherwise...

    Toronto Toronto | Southcore Financial Centre & Delta Toronto | 159.71m | 45s | GWL | KPMB

Great shots guys, I look at the South Core, and am still in bewildered awe that in less then 15 years, most of this was all abandoned railway tracks, amazing how fast this city continues to grow.

Great shot, but does anyone remember the time before they put the netting over the bars? Picture it, me on a school trip to the CN Tower, 1979, on the outdoor deck, leaning over, and off my watch falls, right through the bars and over 1000 feet to the ground! It was my first nice watch....if...
