    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Again, I think we’re on the same page. We’re simply being welcoming of extended closures if the TTC deems it an option for whatever work they might have to do. The faster work is done the better.

I like Adelaide or Wellington, even if they’re both east-west streets

Yeah, it’s definitely bayfront. The two words have many differences.

Can we modify the message or is it fixed?

I don’t think he’s missing the point at all. That 10 day closure should avoid a lot of weekend closures, and accelerate the project’s completion time. If the subsequent weekend closures can’t be avoided, then so be it, but if installation can be accelerated, we should accelerate it.

    VIA Rail

You’re thinking about this wayy too hard. Getting as much political power on board is key right now. Also, connecting to Peterborough and if the Quebec City segment is done then Trois-Rivières counts as more communities. Also, no one is allowed to reply to this saying “I don’t think Quebec...

Yeah, the Winchester Sub can be the shortcut east of Smiths Falls. I think it was discussed in this thread at some point last year.

    VIA Rail

I try to be as positive as possible about the project when I discuss it. It would be a big quality of life improvement for a lot of people I know (and myself). I hope you all do the same! Also, call your MPs and the Minister of Transport :)

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Agreed. Same goes for East Harbour. Not every train has to stop there but every train should be able to stop there.

    VIA Rail

Speaking from experience as a former student who did Montreal-Toronto a lot, Megabus was my choice when VIA was too expensive last minute (even a few weeks in advance) or the schedule wasn’t convenient at all. Megabus is very, very uncomfortable compared to VIA (and I’m not way over 6 feet)...

Oh lord. Imagine walking under the elevated structure right in front of McGill. I don't think there's a good choice other than RL.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

I'm missing something here, I understand that low-floor single-level trains would have bad performance but would dual-level trains not have the same performance issues?

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Th That's awesome! I was thinking about something similar the other day. I was thinking yesterday about what it would take to get a GO midtown line going. Phase 1 is VIA making whatever improvement they need to make on the Don Branch and the Belleville Sub, with the future in mind. Phase 2...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Definitely makes sense. I don’t think the elevated structure will be that bad- would be good to have it offset with lots of local greenery. The key, in my mind, is to ensure good transfers both around Gare Centrale and Berri-UQAM. A dedicated interior walkway without a movator is the bare...

A more cooperative/decentralized model could involve a transit federation model, as Jonathan English and TRBT has discussed
