Would it be possible to quad-track from Bala/York to Langstaff or Richmond Hill GO? The Yonge extension has talked about using the Bala corridor, and it makes some degree of sense for the OL (though wouldn't that push it beyond capacity?) , but I can't help but feel that it should be kept for...

    VIA Rail

As a zoomer, I care about my carbon footprint-- many others in my generation would also prefer to take the train if it's a reasonable option (i.e. not 12 hours+).

What would be needed to start an overnight train? It would make air-travel-free weekend trips a possibility...

I think the approach Ontario should take is agreeing to improve transit to Niagara Falls with dedicated passenger infrastructure while New York agrees to improve transit from Buffalo-Albany and Albany-NY. Cuomo has expressed interest in improving rail service within his state. Even if it takes...

Can we get a thread for the Bank street tunnel or something

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Stop buttons are consistently on every bus and streetcar... and the Waterloo LRT... not sure what Eglinton will look like but I don’t think this is hard for people to wrap their heads around

But then you’re not paying per use and not helping reduce peak traffic...

Driving a car is anything but free. You’re paying for every part of it except the road.

Some people are willing to try the corridor service, try it, hit a delay, and are turned off from every taking the train again. Beyond normal on-time-performance improvement, I also hope there can be worst-case delay improvements. An 8 hour delay on a 5 hour journey did not do me much good.

We've got Dunbloor at Six Points... How about Bloordas? Or Crossways Junction?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Again, you seem to think that all Yonge passengers live exactly on Yonge? RH RER would siphon off passengers from the future terminus of the line and from Sheppard. How is ripping up all of Line 1 a good idea in any way?
  12. S

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

An express line 1 can be RH RER. An extended Line 1 can meet RH just north of the 407. A bit of a mess north of the York sub, and one can dream of switching to the Don branch, but this is all 10-20 years away (and currently imaginary).

Might that be covered under the new reservation system?

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I really wonder about Megabus (and other operators, i.e. Greyhound) moving into the new bus terminal. Especially around holidays weekends, they can fall really far behind on their schedule. Compared to GO they're often just an operational mess. At least the current terminal has lots of space...

Other than Ottawa station, what land does VIA own along the corridor that might be appropriate for TOD?

What’s the latest on the new reservation system? Last I heard it was to be rolled out this year

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Doesn’t take a genius to realize that development on the scale that a 400 series highway would allow for won’t happen without the 400 series highway being built
  20. S

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

A 400 series highway will bring massive development to that area, and everyone will have easy access if they use their cars. The basic idea is that you want to reduce people’s dependence on cars, and preserve green space around a city. Both of these things require long-term thinking. If you...
