Building barebones stations is how they do it in Europe and Asia and why cost are much lower than in North America, and it is why they build more transit projects as a result.

People like you are why transit projects balloon in cost. you want the stations to fit personal sense of style regardless of the added cost and time. This just means less transit for the rest of us, however.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Osgoode Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Building stations are by far the largest cost of any transit projects, tunneling via TBM is not near as expensive as the stations. The most cost savings are therefore found in the stations. That's why the Scarborough extension only has 3 stations and why the Yonge extension removed a couple of...

Now multiple this by 100x for all the NIMBY groups in the city who want to make "One small change" to this project and the cost have soon grown by 100 million and additional years for completion. If Metrolink budges here it will only encourage more court injections all along the line. The more...

The most cost effectively way are the current plans to chop down the trees and a section of gate on Osgoode hall. Anything else will just increase the project cost and time (which is alreay happening with the delays) and make other projects less feasible.

So basicly you want to make transit construction both more expensive to build and take longer..
