    Finch West Line 6 LRT

They estimate that each rider on the Sheppard subway is subsidized by $10. It's a huge drain on the rest of the system. And it still doesn't have sufficient ridership to justify it being a subway! I can't believe Mel Lastman's boondoggle is being held up as some sort of paragon of planning.

Please re-read my post. All of the downtown snobbery you read in it is in your head, not mine! I said, "As someone who has taken the Finch bus from Humber to Yonge, 36 minutes will be a dream in comparison to what it is now." I speak as someone who uses Rexdale transit regularly and has done so...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

As someone who has taken the Finch bus from Humber to Yonge, 36 minutes will be a dream in comparison to what it is now. It is funny how apocalyptic people on this forum get about the potential speeds of the LRT lines when they haven't even opened. People will rise up! Rexdale will burn! The...

Thanks to all the people who went out in this godforsaken weather to photograph! The real question: Did anyone moonwalk across the bridge in their Halloween costume???

Lol I didn't even know the NOW brand still existed. I think there are definitely fair criticisms to make of the Well, but sad to see that collecting a bunch of TikTok reviews about the Well is somehow the level of "journalism" that the brand has sunk to.

I know it's icy out there, but I didn't know people (raccoons?) were sliding down slippery slope arguments, as well.

People are arguing with me as if I have some power over the way the transit line will work. I have zero power over it. I am explaining why the "need for speed" is really not practical for an above-ground line. LRVs bombing through intersections is not going to happen for many reasons. First and...

Coming to this thread to see if anyone posts any photos of the building and the Inner Harbour during the cold snap. 👀

My husband works downtown. His firm, even before the pandemic, was fully "agile" - ie, you could come in to work or work remote any day you'd like. Before the pandemic, the office was still busy five days a week. Some days, people wouldn't be able to find a desk! (There weren't enough desks for...

I imagine that the drivers don't want to go fast. Having your streetcar involved in an accident likely means you'll get told off by your superiors, you''ll have to do paperwork, and you might get screwed over in scheduling. You might get transferred to buses. (The horror!) Why risk all of that...

That canoe-eye video was great! I want to go canoeing on that river, and I don't even like canoeing!!

I thought the Globe article was fine. It covered all of the bases, and there were a few things I could quibble with but they were overall minor. I will say that the article's writing has a high level of annoyance with Toronto as a whole that makes it less enjoyable to read. But I suspect that...

One of my least favourite ways to critique Toronto's aesthetics is to say, "My out-of-towner friend/relative thinks Toronto is ugly." As Torontonians, we spend too much time weighing and considering the opinions of out-of-towners, and often scourging ourselves with their opinions. It always...

The real question for mmmuffins was: do you pronounce the “mmm” at the beginning, or do you just say “muffins!” If you do say the “mmm,” how long a “mmm” is sufficient? Do you really need to draw it out? This was a very important question for me as a teen at the mall in the 90s.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

They called it "Ontario Line" so that people outside of Toronto wouldn't get upset about billions of their tax dollars going to construction in the city. I think it's one of the smartest things Doug Ford has ever done. Claim it's for Ontario and people will support it politically. If calling it...
