    Mississauga City Centre (Downtown)

Sorry it was in print only. Most of the issue was devoted to remaking the 'burbs. If it was from some print giant or something I might not feel bad about scanning it, but Spacing barely breaks even, I'm sure. I looked here and it only lists a couple of locations in the 905. But I picked it up...

    Mississauga City Centre (Downtown)

The latest issue of spacing has a nice article about MCC. It actually sounded like the planners in Mississauga "get it" to some extent. Especially since they seem to realize that Square One is a huge impediment to building the urban downtown they envision.

Chinatown East: Zhong Hua Men Gate

I think it looks pretty nice.

    Toronto Toronto | Ryerson's Mattamy Athletics Centre + Loblaws at the Gardens | ?m | ?s | Ryerson University | Turner Fleischer

Didn't Ryerson previously state that they didn't want MLG because of the monstrous renovation costs attached to it? What has changed?

    Peterborough Commuter Rail

High-speed rail? I know journalists can be lazy with the facts, but could they at least use their common sense a little?

    Nail Houses

600 Parliament is as shabby as ever but 224 Wellesley is looking a lot better these days. A paint store has moved in and they've painted murals on both sides.

    GO needs off-peak pricing

Exactly. I think it's pretty clear that GO isn't willing to shell out for the very large subsidy that would be required to cover all the TTC fares. I'm sure the TTC would be very pleased at the additional ridership they'd get if GO offered the subsidy.

Probably until it's time to retire the T1s...So we're looking at another couple of decades, I would think.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Seriously, has anyone ever seen anybody go in there?

    GO needs off-peak pricing

Local transit agencies everywhere else in the GTA get a handout from GO for each GO passenger they carry. The TTC doesn't. Blame GO. Don't expect Toronto residents to subsidize your ride on the TTC.

    GO needs off-peak pricing

Those agencies are able to do so because GO offers a subsidy for each passenger that takes local transit, because it's cheaper than building more parking. GO does not offer such a subsidy to the TTC, presumably to remind 416ers that they're not particularly welcome on GO.

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Absolutely untrue. The new trains are going exclusively to YUS because the gangways between cars will increase capacity by ~9% (from memory, may be off by a point or two) and decrease overcrowding...hopefully.

    Church-Wellesley Village

I find it especially ironic that you can apparently "come as you are" there. Every time I've been out in Queen West I get the feeling that I'm just not hipster enough for everyone there.

You're describing almost every thread on UT. If everyone stayed on topic the post count would probably be cut in half. Not sure if there's a good solution though. I find that slightly offtopic posts add to the sense of community.

    Cabbagetown

I think it makes sense to simplify it to Cabbagetown, but I totally agree about the street signs. Cabbagetown feels like a village and the current signs suit the area well. For the most part they're still in good condition. I hope we don't end up with those ugly blue things the city is pushing now.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Not sure commuter rail would work very well in Ottawa. The train station is located far away from downtown and any major employment centres whatsoever. Regardless OC Transpo seems to serve the suburbs well enough as it is.

    Toronto Toronto | Ryerson Student Learning Centre | 50.59m | 8s | Ryerson University | Zeidler

Hey can Ryerson rid us of the eight "novelty ID" shops on that block as well? What is the deal with that anyways?

Actually after you've been away for three days most home insurance policies require somebody to check in on the house daily in case of a plumbing leak or a problem with the heating or air conditioning that could cause heavy damage.

Actually if anything the roof looks like the NY Times tower.

    City Workers Strike 2009

If the deal wasn't final then why didn't 416 speak up sooner? There's something really fishy about this. If I was a union member looking forward to finally going back to work I'd be seriously upset right now, especially now that 79 is going it alone.
