    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

That is an article from July 2023 so it's based on last year's mandate letter. As far as I have been told, there are studies underway to determine the feasibility of various options. Have no idea what the timelines and exact scope of these studies are though.

It's a good half hour walk. It's like 2.5 km.

    Misc. Transportation Projects

Anyone know what's happening on Highway 16A on either side of Acheson? Signs up for intersection improvements at Spruce Valley Road and Bevington Road. Parkland County's capital budget document mentions that traffic lights will be installed among the other works. Are they really going to put...

Yeah I think all the piles have been installed, they've been working through the winter.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

Drove by today and the old Northgate building is being demo's and they are well on their way putting in piles for what I am assuming is probably the over/underpass structure east of the Northgate site. No pictures, sorry!

    Federal Politics

Is it actually working out good for them? I've got family in Quebec and I wouldn't say everything is hunky dory. As chaotic as things are here right now, I'd much rather be in Alberta.

    Edmonton | Exhibition Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

The purchaser will be well received here I think.

    Miscellaneous

Also noticed there is a structure going up at the NW corner of Stony Plain Road and 186 Street. Wonder if the Sunwapta Centre West expansion is finally going ahead full bore. From the website it looks like there'll be a Canadian Tire, Dollarama, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, AW, and Firehouse Subs...

    Miscellaneous

Yeah I've noticed it has been fenced off lately too. Wonder if they're going to tear it down and put in another car dealership or something.

https://dailyhive.com/calgary/flixbus-bus-alberta-routes-calgary-edmonton Flixbus to start Alberta routes. Looks like their pickup point in Edmonton will be 11525 Jasper Avenue.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Do we have any idea what possible replacement rolling stock for the U2s would look like on the high floor metro/capital lines? I know Siemens no longer makes the SD-160 so it would likely be a new style.

    Municipal Politics

The Staples column was weird because it kept mentioning insolvency. Like surely the City would just go harder into cutting spending on projects etc. before that was even an issue. Calgary's tax increase was higher than ours this year too.

    Edmonton | Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

Picked up an interesting blurb from the City's report into Downtown CRL Catalyst Project Priorities (Attachment 3 from March 20 Executive Committee): "The City is committed to improving 105 Avenue conditional on Qualico beginning construction of a second phase of Station Lands by December 31...

    Edmonton | Sedona Apartments | ?m | 9s | ProCura Real Estate | DIALOG

Disagree. This would be 100% better for the community if this lot were vacant or even a parking lot than the state it has been left in. The building is the definition of derelict, pretty sure there have been several fires.

    Municipal Politics

Bit of a bombshell at 7PM on a Friday.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

The two KLM flights I was on in February were packed (95% loads) so I can definitely see the numbers being strong.
  17. H

    West Edmonton Mall

Recreational uses such as this are actually a pretty clever reuse of these large retail spaces. Surprised we haven't seen more of this happen in other locations.

    Edmonton | Edmonton Motors Lands Redevelopment | 170.07m | 56s | Pangman

First phase of development was always going to be on the parcel to the south anyway. Wonder if Rev Cycle could take a cru whenever that goes ahead.
  19. H

    Municipal Politics

This is going to be a long drawn out strike if the City isn't willing to negotiate.
  20. H

    LRT Expansion Planning

Yeah I agree, it is likely construction phase funding for VLW and Capital Line South. If this was new funding there'd likely be an announcement of some kind and funding from other orders of government would likely have been known by this point in their budgets, especially on the City's end.
