Every time I read "Rent Falcon" on the side of that tower it just makes me think of some "superhero" building manager that has falcon wings. Something like Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. I AM RENTFALCON AND I WILL FIND YOU AN AFFORDABLE SUITE THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS!!

    Miscellaneous

I like it a lot better than many more contemporary designs. Simple and inoffensive isn't a bad thing.

I want to see the floorplan on those triangular units!

It'll blend right into the skyline in no time. People won't even realize it's a new building, like it's been there for 20 years already.

    Edmonton Branding and Tourism strategy

Regardless of the origin of the slogan, I think many people interpret it as weirdly boastful or out of touch. It's not a good slogan imo. If we're going to have a slogan, it should be something more geographical and relatively unique like "Canada's Gateway to the North" or something to...

Wait that stagnant site on 101 is theirs too? God help us all.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Clogging the roads up a little with all the new incoming cars will also help drive increased transit usage. There's plenty of trips in Metro Vancouver that are faster by transit than by car, especially at rush hour. In Edmonton that's not really ever the case currently.

    Misc. Parks and Greenspace Projects

Mary Burlie park is is an important transition point between Chinatown and the terminus of the LRT MUP. A thoughtful redesign could greatly improve connectivity between the MUP and 97 St which is something we should want to do for multiple reasons. It's also a pretty small park so it's not like...

It's a good example of how you don't need to overdesign. There's a lot of lower end apartments around town that would've looked a lot better if they simplified their design, rather than trying to add extra bits and more siding types and more colours. Don't be afraid of simplicity.

    LRT Safety

Of course when we send the cops out to enforce the rules the first thing they do is start looking for jaywalkers. THOSE DANG JAYS ARE AT IT AGAIN! If they don't want people to cross the tracks, then don't lay out a red carpet baiting people to cross the tracks. The platform at Millwoods...

Yeah I just assume I'm never going to be able to use any transit shelter and dress accordingly. With how badly their misuse is enforced, we'd be just as well not having any at all. Which is ridiculous of course, it shouldn't be like this.

    Parking, Parking, Parking

Even if you want to market your free parking, someone coming all the way up from Calgary is a real weird way to do so!

I appreciate the big balconies. However the building may have an extra unique aesthetic after it's fully occupied, once the tenants have fully furnished the balconies with their belongings. Such large balconies with glass railings will ensure everything is clearly on display.

You mean how they chose Avonmore as their example in the article? It's a weird choice to make their point, yeah. The analysis they're referencing is from this https://www.jacobdawang.com/blog/2024/all-lrt-stops/ where they looked at all existing and future stations for land use and growth...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Given how much trouble we've had getting transit oriented development off the ground here, it's not surprising that the planning team would try and focus the TOD growth onto only some of the stations. There's so many parts of town with lots of "potential" for densification, but clearly not...

    Misc. Transportation Projects

What has traditionally been the city's method for deciding which major road to renew? Right now they list, 95 Ave, 97 St (south side), 124 St, 132 Ave and 76 Ave as the only major roads/collectors up for renewal. https://www.edmonton.ca/transportation/on_your_streets/collector-concept...

For one person living alone this unit would be fine enough, but I would hate having a guest over because they would have to cut through my bedroom to go out to the balcony.
