Hooray I won't have to go to West Ed to go to Uniqlo! Though I wouldn't mind one in City Centre or Kingsway maybe.... 🙏

It is what it is, I still think pedways are "neat" even if theyre not ideal for other reasons. My ideal form of pedestrian grade separation when necessary is big and wide open-air overpasses, ideally level to the sidewalks or at least with only a minor slope (minimize the use of stairs and...

I get why it is the way it is, but I can't help but feel like its a shame this long pedway is buried. If we're gonna have pedways, then above ground pedways with big glass windows that cross over roads and other infrastructure are much more visually interesting, both from inside and outside.

Do you remember what thread that would've been in? I'd love to read up more on these apparent recent council discussions that I guess I missed somehow.

Has there ever been any talk about the city developing their own land - instead of either selling off it off or trying to get another developer to buy in? Like a city-owned and run development corporation. Even if all that was built was a market-rate or semi-affordable but still profitable...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Wait privately owned ones aren't legal?? That's weird. Doesn't seem to stop people anyways, I've seen quite a few unbranded and unique looking ones around.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

An Any kind of periodic enforcement would probably help at least a bit. As it stands, I've never seen EPS enforcing any driving rules except for speed. Even then it's usually just the CoE trucks. We need at least periodic enforcement of a whole number of traffic laws that aren't being enforced...

I know I'm wrong both ethically and morally to feel this way, but it's kinda growing on me.

Oh yeah they might be using it as a staging area for the neighbourhood rehab. That didn't occur to me but it would make sense. Bummer though

I saw some heavy equipment and a whole bunch of churned earth at 10555 95 St this morning, next to the LRT. I wasn't able to stop and get a picture. Was that the site of that mixed use building where they were wanting to put in a community hardware store? I forget what it was called so I...

Is that a new rezoning? I know there's been a rezoning sign on that property for a while but I don't see any applications right now on Slim Maps so I was assuming it had lapsed or the developer pulled out or something.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

It's not really that it's a terrible idea, but I'm concerned that if they did set up a heavy rail route on existing ROW they would be cheap about it and the line would terminate in Strathcona requiring extra transfers to get downtown, as opposed to the LRT which is already connected. Even if...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

The plan is eventually for the Capital line to extend to YEG, right? So if the province puts up the money then we could move that extension along a bit sooner than planned. Unless they have some wacky idea of using a completely independent rail corridor which they seem to be suggesting:

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Why is Edmonton's industrial growth so high? What sort of developments are we seeing atm that are having such a large impact?

    Edmonton's Population

Admittedly we did buy a house, but in the inner city instead of the fringe suburbs, and I'm still baffled when I think about it. Coming from Vancouver I might've been able to buy a Condo for 600k (5+ years ago), but we came here and got a nice piece of land in a mature neighbourhood and a...

    Edmonton's Population

Which is entirely the reason me and my partner moved from Burnaby to Edmonton lol. It wasn't as significant a downgrade in services, shops or work opportunities as it would've been to move to Winnipeg. And of course it's affordable here, moreso than Calgary. Though I do find myself missing the...

It's solar cladding? That's confirmed? I was wondering if it was just tiles, but solar that's really interesting. Should look really cool.

    Electric Buses

Did ETS have a big order of Hydrogen powered busses lined up, or was that just a proposal?
