    Toronto Council Races - 2010

It's a real shame that what shouldn't have been an issue at all forced such a good candidate out of running. If this is the new political game, where any personal indescretions are subject to public scrutiny, then we won't be seeing many rushing to run.

New Bike Lanes on University, Bay, Spadina, and Other Roads

I don't understand the problem with making a right turn. I cycle everyday on College, University and Wellesley. If the bike lane is in the middle, you'd simply turn right when opposing traffic has the green. Where's the problem here? If you think about it this configuration is actually...

New Bike Lanes on University, Bay, Spadina, and Other Roads

I've never understood the arterial vs side st debate with bike lanes. Has anyone actually looked at a map to see how it simply doesn't make sense to relegate bikes to side streets? That they'd never have a continuous path? Of course this is a bit tongue in cheek, but the point remains -...

West Queen West / A&D District

So once again, the debate is an either / or? Free reign of bars or nothing? And I don't get it "bureaucratic nonsense?" How is properly licensing establishments a bad thing?

    Dufferin Street: Eliminating the jog

Does anyone know the timeline for the railpath connection? I know the longer-term plan is to eventually connect even further south (and we did receive a notice from the city about the path closer to King / Strachan) but will the railpath be connected to Queen / Dufferin for when the jog opens?

    Liberty Village Towers/Bliss (CanAlfa, 24 + 20s, IBI-HB)

Liberty Village is an unfortunate example why we need some sort of architectural review committee as in Vancouver. I understand the OMB poses challenges too, but the buidlings going up in this hood - and in WQW - are really embarassing.

West Queen West / A&D District

A good overview of the problems with current restaurant / bar labels. And a good example of how Pantalone certainly isn't to blame for trying to find some sort of solution in the midst of very messy regulations. It'd be great for the city and those running for election to have a grown up...

    Transit City Plan

Why would the city have to compel the grocery stores? Couldn't they encourage it? Sure look at all the subway stations that operate as stand alone buildings (i.e. Bathurst). Or consider that the stations could operate as small famers markets one day a week ala what's happening in many parks...

Pet Food Shops in Downtown Toronto?

Have you tried vets? That's where we buy our dog and cat food.

    another idiot from city council

It sounds like you're predicating your opinions on the notion that city hall spending is out of control. Let's hear from the Mayor himself on that - http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/story.cfm?content=173912

    Toronto Toronto | Edge on Triangle Park | ?m | 21s | Plaza | TACT Architecture

Let's just hope the Loblaws at Queen and Portland is up and running before the Price Chopper is redevelopped. There's already a shortage of grocery stores in the hood!

    another idiot from city council

She's questionning what he thinks should be cut if we're to achieve his goals. That is her job. She's standing up for a variety of important services and pointing out what would suffer if we followed his course. And she's the difficult one when he claims that he "won't do her job" or "answer...

Cozy West Queen St. West Cafés (West of Spadina)?

The constituent is the one who was just spewing rhetoric. Good on Fletcher for calling him out.

    Duke's Cycle (623-625 Queen St. W, Form, 3s)

Looks like Duke's is rebuilding! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/dukes-cycle-returning-to-queen-street/article1484966/

    Roncesvalles Reconstruction

Union dues go to much more than just paying the union leadership's salaries - http://www.liunalocal183.ca/AboutUs/Benefits.aspx I'm ok with construction workers having the same benefits as most other workers. Seems like the right thing to do.

    Roncesvalles Reconstruction

Proud you're not unionized and work ethic of a welfare bum? Clearly you've got a chip on your shoulder. Construction delays are pretty much par for the course. I just had work done on my house and it went over budget and took longer to compete. And they weren't unionized. Should I assume that...

Where does Perks stand on the issue of family-sized condos ala Vaughan? Might be push for changes to this project?
