Haven't any of you guys heard about Artscape? http://www.torontoartscape.on.ca/ Many of these comments sound like what's happening at Richmond & Portland is a first for the city!
Arts and culture represents $84 billion to the Canadian economy or 7.4% of our total GDP - http://www.conferenceboard.ca/documents.aspx?did=2671 Anyone who thinks government investments in arts are simply handouts have no grasp of the economic importance of the industry. Look at other sectors...
You all know this so-called work to rule campaign was not led by the union right? http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/762105--ttc-work-to-rule-pitch-fizzles
We've lived in a laneway around Trinity Bellwoods for over 2 years in one of 3 workman's cottages that date to the 1850s. One day we plan on building up. So thanks for sharing, I'll be following your project for sure!
Yeah, we should just give Rossi another chance. He's new to politics, he didn't mean what he said to reporters. He's actually pro-transit, pro-bikes, pro-urbanity. Wait now, what did he to before jumping into the race. Right, he worked in politics.
So what's the solution here? I'm thinking at a minimum distinguishing between a restaurant and a bar would help. Groups like this local residents org seem to be on the right track - http://queenbeac.wordpress.com/bar-concentration-around-queenbeaconsfield-faq/

National Post Published: Wednesday, January 13, 2010

That was a result of a compromise the city reached, that wasn't what Active 18 was seeking. They wanted much more - http://active18.org/news-folder/city-settles-with-two-of-three-developers-in-the-triangle
I think its a real shame this is what the neighbourhood ended up with. Especially considering all the work the community (http://active18.org/) did banding together to make sure this building and others fit. I can tell you if this was the design that was presented to the neighbourhood at the...
The Art & Design District runs from Bathurst to Gladtsone. So that's West Queen West. The Big Bop just happens to be on the east side of Bathurst, so it just misses be in the hood.
Hey caez - so you provided the rules that cyclists must follow and because you claim most cyclists don't follow these rules, they should therefore be licensed? Wouldn't police enforcement of those rules do the job? How would licensing cyclists make them know/follow the rules?
Look at car...
How about educating drivers on cyclists rights? For example, a cyclist is allowed to take the full lane and drivers don't just automatically get to squeeze cyclists to the side of the road so they can pass. People always seem to automatically blame cyclists, but how many drivers know very...
I adore that house on Euclid! From the laneway behind, there are great views of the different green roofs! I've seen quite a few of this style of houses around the city. Anyone know the names of the architects responsible for these projects?
I don't see the problem with "scavengers." At our place, 2 old Chinese women come by competing to be the first to get our glass bottles and cans. Instead of making it harder for them to find the bottles and cans, we place them seperately in our old recycling blue box. The women clean out the box...
