Good news. The entire Ice District was missing a good coffee joint. Good to see them with a second location.

The Mercury Block II | Hodgson Schilf Evans

No, the CB3 zone ‘allows’ one to develop a 23-storey building. They are not planning that here.

Disagree. I don't mind this at all. Provides some visual interest to the podium level that juxtaposes the other vertical/horizontal design elements.

It seems like it has taken forever to finish the acrylic stucco. Nice to finally see the tarps come down.

All designed by GEC. There's your lineage on the design ;)

Another surface gravel parking lot biting the dust, literally!

Love that this knocked out a gravel parking lot too. Great density boost for that area and more coming.

He has risen! Anyways I agree. A lot of g*ddamn whining happening on these forums nowadays. Many don't remember where our downtown was back in the 90's/early 2000's. Yeah, there was a time where we sh*t our pants when a Starbucks was announced somewhere in the downtown. Sure we have our...

    Landsdowne Centre - 5120 - 122 Street - Redevelopment - proposed

Not really. Contamination doesn't just 'go away'. You either remove it, treat it with chemical injections or aerate it over time - how you remediate a contaminated site depends on the type of contamination too - hydrocarbons, dry cleaning chemicals, etc.

^No I don't believe so. At least not what I can recall.

I completely forgot about this plaza redevelopment. Looking good.

    Landsdowne Centre - 5120 - 122 Street - Redevelopment - proposed

Don't worry, it's Alldritt, this won't be built. But as I've said many times in the past, prove me wrong. With respect to the proposed concept, I would have approached this site differently. I would have designed this to accommodate multiple buildings with the majority being 6-storey wood...

Sweet building. Looks like some great amenities. It'll be ever better when Costa gets his Italian market thing goin' in the podium.

You really think that they are not going to finish this. Like really. I don't mind the colour scheme - sure it's grey but it's timeless. Like black and white.

    Edmonton | Mill Woods Town Centre Redevelopment | ?m | ?s

The only 'strip mall' that was added was the development in the SW corner where the TD Bank, SBUX, etc. are. And in general it's not all that bad. The Safeway and other commercial buildings to the east are not owned by Procura or the previous consortium (Westbank, Procura, Progressive Construction).

Urban Sparq was the applicant, IIRC which had a solid grip on operating bars of that scale. I think it would have been great, but its refusal really came down to the Zoning Bylaw and limits on that type of Bar and Neighbourhood Pubs use (or whatever the use that was being applied for). Looking...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

And what's happened to malls and retail landscape during that period? A lot - the number of department stores that used to anchor these types of shopping centres has evaporated, and so forth. Furthermore, Kingsway has solidified itself as 1 of the 3 'fortress malls' that exist in Edmonton and...

Yes, because they are spending money on abatement (which isn't cheap) and then proceeding with demolition.

They have and continue to figure out approaches to redeveloping/repositioning both east and west ECC. The west is more complicated as the Delta Hotel is a separate owner and they would have to be considered with any proposals.
