    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Why not convert the Sheppard subway for LRT vehicles and then connect the Sheppard subway to the Finch LRT. That way , we have a single crosstown LRT in the north.

The Kingston - Queensway Line is really long and it might make sense to break it in half like the 504 Also why have it miss Scarborough GO and Dixie GO?

Can't be that hard to put a little precast concrete parking curb on the outside of the dotted line and paint a "NO CARS" sign on the roadway. Theres just no political will to making the streetcars run faster

If we're going to do this, we might as well segregate all the e-w streetcar routes from private traffic, and make the area between the YU subway car-free. We could have multiple branch lines for both the Bay Street and King Street Tunnels. That way the streetcars become full fledged LRT lines...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Line 1 and Line 2 are servicing the CBD of the city, in an incredibly dense area, some of the highest density neighborhoods in the country both by population and jobs. The eastern portion of the line is servicing suburban sprawl power centers and parking lots (yes this will become condos...

Run the line from Science Center to Mt Dennis now and rebuild the eastern section for 3 more years. It couldn't possibly take that long. Look at how quickly the davenport grade separation on the Barrie line is coming together.

Just elevate the eastern section. We have the right of way set up already and the utilities have already been relocated.

But that would mean deprioritizing cars and Toronto is such a unique city that transit priority would never work here

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Great, we deliberately broke the connection with the Ontario Line because we decided to create a 15 billion dollar streetcar and placed a station at Sunnybrook with less ridership than Bessarion

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I mean duh of course it’s a shakedown. Hey nice railroad you’ve got here, would be a shame if someone disrupted the operations of this here railway unexpectedly whilst doing “environmental assessments” But all this can go away if you helped out our community by giving us a big wad of cash. If...

Within the same geometry of a 6m diameter tunnel, we can fit a full sized TTC consist and the 3rd rail and the emergency walkway. So lets compare the capacity of the Flexity Freedom vs a Toronto Rocket A Flexity Freedom can fit 135 people in a 20m 3 module car or 250 people in a 30m 5 module...

Me and everyone else on the train who has an extra 5min tacked onto their commute per direction every day b/c the train stopped at 3 stations with sub 10k per day ridership. Thats 500k person minutes a day? 3 million person hours a year? At minimum wages those low ridership stations are costing...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Somehow we manage to have emergency walkways and power lines in a 6m wide tunnel for our existing / new subways but can't fit them in on the crosstown? Not to mention that higher capacity subways in other countries run in narrower tunnels than the crosstown.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Station spacing in lower density areas needs to be 2km. Otherwise we have overlapping walk/bikesheds and are duplicating effort. Also we have busses that feed our subway lines. So there is no need to have very expensive stations so close together where the ridership does not merit such investment.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Eglinton would have been the perfect corridor for a subway. And we spent subway money 600M$ per KM on this line. The Ontario line is 700M$ per KM. We "set money on fire" and didn't even get subway level capacity or speeds. Yes. If a station is low ridership and adds time to everyone elses...
