2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Norm Kelly has been around for decades but non-consecutively. His only time off from city politics are from being an MP and when he lost the race to be mayor of Scarborough.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

That's odd, I thought it was the City Clerk's Office that managed municipal elections. I'm surprised they won't investigate or enforce the law.

Looks like the lawsuit about the TTC connection got the developer's attention. http://ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Commission_reports_and_information/Commission_meetings/2014/August_19/Reports/Proposed_Entrance_Connection_at_Don_Mills_Subway_Station.pdf

    Ontario Liberals and Transit

Well that and they're negotiating a new one for the subway but seem to be hung up on figuring out the sunk costs.

For one I thought they got rid of 9' ceilings to squeeze extra floors out.

I know it's a grey area but holy crap is it grey.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I think city council asked Metrolinx to view Sheppard West as a priority or something to that effect. Actual support from council is probably small but that motion was passed.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I still don't get why the Finch LRT will be given the number of Line 7 when it's due to open before Sheppard which will be given Line 6.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Hell, the Scarb subway has the ridership to offset (or come darn close) operating costs.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Well that didn't take long for the Liberals to waffle.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

If would be nice of that report listed the what 31 votes were used for the study. If it's on their website I can't for the life of me find it.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Goes both ways. City planning has said SRT alignment is better for development but all studies have shown higher ridership the subway. I have to take city planning at it's word but much of the SRT alignment runs through industrially zoned land that the city does not want to see developed so it...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

That's untrue. Council made a clear motion to amend the MA to remove the LRT and replace it with a subway as well as to fund it. The MA is currently being negotiated to deal with issues such as sunk costs. It was also much more than just Mitze Hunter touting the subway. During the by-elections...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Correct, although after an election it's all open even if it's less than a year.

    Toronto Toronto | Sheppard Garden | 48.98m | 14s | 95 Development | TAES

I was disappointed that in the newest design they removed the public lane on the south end. Moving the park to front on Sheppard is a nice change since it would be very difficult for the public to know that a public park is located within the development.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Regardless of where the party stands, Scarborough Liberal candidates position themselves as supports of a subway on Sheppard. Interpret how you want that the Liberal party platform supports "transit solutions" for Sheppard East and Finch West.
