    Edmonton | T5M Connect | ?m | 2s

This is bang on, 40-50 years after a neighborhood is created it needs to evolve rather quickly to keep the investment on services like schools, parks and community centers. There will just not be enough kids to go to school or play hockey in the community arenas.

There are also tools to enforce it. Police use these: https://codaxus.com/c3ft/c3ft-v3/ to run stints to drive compliance. I am confident that the majority of the riders will abide this rule (most do already) but it will help educate the ones that don't behave safely around cyclists.

High Level Bridge Streetcar / ERRS

What will $85K buy? A couple people managing further fundraising and to look for a firm to design the thing? It wasn't very clear if the funds will go to ERRS to use as they see fit of will this be directed by the city. Sometimes the lack of specifics in local reporting really disappoint me.

    Edmonton | La Piazza | ?m | 1s | McCauley Development Co-Op

I know it sounds silly but a large artificial turf area with a sidewalk around it and some benches to sit are magnets for families. Families can get a patio table and when kids are done eating they can go and run around and maybe throw or kick a ball around while their parents run up their...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Edmonton is a great city for winter riding. Not sure about the commuting part but there are many people that do it. I think it comes down to infrastructure (dedicated, separated paths) and the overall length of the commute which is the main point the video tries to make. By the way studded tires...

    Toll Roads / Mileage Tax

Many ring roads in Texas and other US states are tolled. I would not recommend that system to anyone.

    Past Vs Present

Trees are just the best urban investment. I would definitely park and look for a nice restaurant if I was driving by. Back in 2009, not so much.

Edmonton | Spruce Grove Metro Ballpark | ?m | ?s | Gold Sports And Entertainment

This is great for the area, I know of one other example, Constellation Park in the Houston suburb of Sugarland is the Hub of the community, it's a stadium within a park and hosts a lot of events for the community throughout the year. The ballpark has a relaxed family friendly atmosphere, even...

    Edmonton | University Commons | ?m | 7s | U of A | GEC

This project is awesome, hope the UofA treats their brutalist buildings with the same care and respect when they need to be upgraded.

    Edmonton | Stanley A. Milner Library | ?m | 6s | EPL | Teeple Architects

I really see this as a wasted opportunity to create a destination building, the building just falls short. I don't see a a way there will be some connectivity to the plaza the way other cities have around their central libraries. Inside is OK, kind of brings it up to date with similar public...

    Introduce Yourself

Hello Everyone, I've posted a few times but did not take the time to introduce myself. New to Edmonton since January last year, before I lived in Texas, Ontario, Montreal, and a few cities in Mexico. I work on a field not at all related to architecture or urban planning but it is something that...

    William Hawrelak Park Rehabilitation

I quite like the park as it is, love the gravel paths that go around, I get that they are not accessible to everyone but not everything needs to be paved over if enough paths are found within the park's "core". I guess the internal path may leave the gravel paths as they are now. There are steps...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Agree, it will be the tournament of Air travel as the proposal does not tie a group to any particular stadium so if you want to follow your national team there will be a lot of travel involved. It will make for many fans staying for a couple days and then leaving.

    Miscellaneous

Hope it's something to complement the building already there, Jasper House is a well kept mid century modern building that should stay.

    Edmonton | Grandin 4 | 23m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

The solution is Greenbelts, no other policy has increased the value of available land and therefore density.

    Intercity Transit

In Guadalajara and Monterrey it was more like wait until you can't put another bus on that street...and then build it.

    Edmonton | Grandin 4 | 23m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

Given the location may be a good spot to start pushing the new 12 story limit on wooden structures.

    Edmonton | Manchester Square | ?m | 2s | 76 Group Co | Gardner Architecture

Echo what people are saying, lighting and quality of materials help but couldn't that effort be directed to something of it's time and place?

    Edmonton | Connect Centre | 56.3m | 16s | ONE Properties | DIALOG

^^^^Agree and that's where I think the trend will go. I already have an instacart list with all our staples (milk, cereal, chopped salads, chicken breasts, etc) and usually get a couple deliveries every week. I only go to the grocery store when I am looking for something new or want to buy...
