We really should've used the incremental money to build the original Ford-McGuinty plan... underground or elevated Eglinton East line between Laird and Kennedy, and keep the SRT all the way to Centennial College + Sheppard.

Having SmartTrack kill a Scarborough Subway would be a really dumb political decision by Tory. I doubt he'd go for that. If anything SmartTrack would just end at Kennedy.

Agreed, elevating Line 4 between Sheppard Yonge and Downsview stations would be a great way to fill the gap between the two lines in a cost-effective manner... without requiring riders to take a 10 stop Finch LRT to get to the other line. Should definitely be studied as an alternative to...

This is what we need on Eglinton east/west and Sheppard. Elevated transit, priced somewhere between LRT and subway... Wish someone would cancel the Scarborough subway and used the funds to make the SRT a through line connected with an elevated Eglinton line and use the remaining funds to finish...

Someone seriously needs to promote the heck out of this. Replace the Scarb subway with Skytrain, and we can have more money to elevate Eglinton / Sheppard / Finch and provide proper rapid transit to these areas.

I think for most people in Mississauga, they're better off using some money to divert (tunnel?) the Milton line to City Centre and building proper interchanges at Kipling / Dundas West TTC. Then everyone who wants to go to Union can stay on the train, and everyone who is not can have a proper...

I really do think that with the focus on SmartTrack, we will not have a Downtown Relief / Queen subway for another generation.

I think it'd be much clearer for visitors if they change the destination to match that on the front of the trains. E.g. Northbound - Finch, Southbound - Downsview via Union. Somehow incorporate it. Much better than before though!

Extending the subway to VP and having BRT from there to Scarborough Centre makes much more sense than having the LRT come out from Don Mills. It would address the stubway status of Sheppard and terminate it in a proper employment node and reduce the overkill of having an LRT to the zoo.

Maps like this falsely equalizes surface LRT with rapid transit. If semi-separated transit should exist on our rapid transit maps too, then I would argue that St Clair and Spadina deserves to be on the map as well.

Only one thing is that "Northbound" is very confusing to tourists and people who don't use the system often. They should have Northbound to Finch (Southbound to Union Towards Downsview) on every sign that says Northbound. It also helps to match the destination signs on the train.

I thought they're putting a new signage standard in too... so why not wait..? This is pretty atrocious. I hope they'll do better with the new standards.

My view is: On-The-Road (Busses, Streetcars, Surface Transit City LRTs) should be for local routes. Off-The Road Grade Separated "Rapid Transit" (Underground / Elevated LRTs and Subways) should be for longer distance, cross-town routes. Sheppard and Eglinton are ultimately east-west...
