Thanks for the info fedplanner. I fear my wife will now be developing a punch list for the reno work I did at home! :)

Forgive me if this is dumb question... but isn't it someone's job to go around the building when it's nearing completion (and after), and touch up the surface deficiencies, such as bad caulking, misaligned fixtures, fittings, defective panels, etc? I would assume that just hasn't been done yet...

While I agree with some points here, I also question how many of the "visually literate" would have noticed the varying heights if they had not already read about their existence on the forum, and been following the development so closely.

Agree with comments above. If I have to stare at a photograph for ages to notice "problems", it's more like MY problem than the architect's! Scrutinizing photographs for mismatches is obsessive. Appreciate the bigger picture.

Yes I think it's more accurate to say we've become a city with local architects who are afraid of colour in new developments, especially in the high rise residential sector. Apart from a couple of exceptions, green, grey and pale blue/grey prevail.

I think you just became my favourite local architect overnight! :)

This development, including the casino is as inevitable as the Gehry/Mirvish project. We can debate until we're blue in the face, but in 10 years time, both will be on our skyline. If I'm wrong, I probably shouldn't be gambling anyway! ;)

Things I like: It respects the shape of the site (not a box, or boxy derivative). Impressive podium. There are no balconies on the largest facades. It's a big improvement over the original grey monolith. Tridel's webmaster has a good sense of humour! :) Things I don't like: After seeing 300...

Exhaust venting. If I recall correctly from my time in London, England, not all their lines into Euston Station are electrified, and diesel trains enter the station thought similar tunnels and covered structures.

Absolutely. Too much jumping the gun goes on here. Soon people will be making their final judgement on projects by just looking at the hole in the ground. "That hole is just a pastiche of more superior holes". "This hole lacks the design intelligence of classic holes." "This is such a faux...

Walking up Bay Street the towers, in the right light, look sleek and attractive, but up close the entrance and podium are extremely bleak and sterile. The fountain is the only real splash of colour, yet the whole scene looks like one of those black & white photographs where the subject alone...

I'd always suspected you might be a Brit, as you're so god damn cynical.

Agreed, the south view does let it down, with the balconies looking a tad like an afterthought. Any photos of the view from the patio yet?

At what point do design issues become maintenance issues? Granted, if the material is poor, and stains quickly, it was a bad choice, but the blue glass in Waterclub hasn't "aged". Surely it's just dirty? **Edit** Realized you were possibly referring to the staining of the frames, not the...

Fantastic picture someMidTowner. That's one of my favourite spots. Even though they are packed in tight, the clean uniformity of the modernist BAC works well right next to the eclectic Trump. A great looking bunch of buildings. The magnificent PoMo Scotia Plaza is going to be very hard to beat...
