Metrolinx owns the GO concourses - outright via strata rights, not just a lease - which means that the detailed design of the York Concourse was entirely up to them. In addition, they also own the train shed, the Union Station Rail Corridor, and their office space within the building. Does...

Well, we now know the cause of the construction delays at Union; just look at this contractor's tools. :-) http://twitter.com/GOtransit/status/593030208212627457/photo/1

Agreed completely, both on the original mockup and the suggestion.

Agreed completely but this also means that Metrolinx has an opportunity to take feedback from this early stage and then incorporate it into the final signage when that signage is put up.

If they could just have a clear divisional indicator between directions, it'd help a lot. For example, that white line in the above photo that is hanging between VIA (on the left) and Air Canada Centre (on the right) would be much better if it were a wider line.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

First of, the budget absolutely does something. It bribes the public into a hoped-for reelection of the Conservatives. Secondly, Steve Munro tweeted last night that it appears much of the transit money is a repurposing of the existing gas tax monies, but with more restrictions on usage.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

What does MTO have to do with GO Transit operations? Metrolinx is a crown agency (read: independent company owned by the government), not a part of MTO.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

It's worth noting that the official 407 East site has been updated to reference the 412 (former West Durham Link) and 418 (East Durham Link) numbers, and makes it makes it completely clear that 412 and 418 will be toll highways. I know most on here are aware of that but if you've been looking...

This is the first I've heard of GO "moving" its ticketing operations as opposed to simply selling tickets in the concourse that will be open for the next phase of construction. Note that GO is setting up temporary ticket sales in the Bay teamway (**see below), for example. I'd be stunned if...

Toronto Councillor Ainslie posted some photos on twitter and instagram yesterday and mentioned exactly that about the black lines. One of the photos was linked to a few posts earlier; there are more below. http://instagram.com/p/zTJoZqlXlw/ http://instagram.com/p/zTKb7blXnE/...

You're right of course re platforms rather than tracks. Still looks like a real improvement over the current Bay Concourse approach of having all of the access via the back of the concourse.

So, am I right in assuming that each track has its own set of stairs direct from the concourse, which you can see enclosed in glass? If so, that should produce much better traffic flow by spreading out track access around the concourse better.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The Metroland Durham Region newspapers are reporting that the 407 "West Durham Link" will be numbered Highway 412. I'm not sure if this has been formally announced or if this is based on previous speculation that 412 would be used because of the proximity to Highway 12. Further, Whitby Council...

York has said she is on staff (as opposed to faculty) there.

Obviously a tragic event and my condolences to the family. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else there is to say. It's being investigated and there is nothing concrete known about the cause. Worth noting this is GO's first passenger fatality ever, in almost a half century of service.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I'm not an expert on this - but looks like they made a few alterations to the design. Hopefully some of the experts here can point out the detailed changes.

Just posted as part of the Metrolinx board meeting agenda for this week: The City of Toronto will turn York Concourse over to Metrolinx by the end of the month, and GO will begin operations from it sometime in "early 2015".
