Heart Lake Development (Brampton, Royalcliff, 4x20s+18s+12s+7s)

I had supported this development since it was first proposed and I'm happy with the outcome. However, I'm not happy with the fact that a decade long friendship was lost over my opinion. Of course we can say they weren't very good friends if they decided to harass me over a differing opinion.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Not quite true. Any balance checker will work, including the one at Kipling GO. It's quite obvious to me that the TTC never intended for people to use the card exclusively for the TTC - that every transit rider using Presto would be trasferring off of GO and would have activated it on GO. If...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Richmond Hill Centre has been connected to Langstaff GO for more than a year. The names were not changed.

Google Trip Planner comes to GO, TTC, BT

Google only updates their maps a few times a year, so don't expect the bus stop drawings to appear for quite some time.

Moving Transit Forward - Adam Giambrone's tenure in review

Not directed at you specifically, but I find it a little interesting that one agency (GO) can be criticised for (seemingly) not studying all the alternatives for the airport, while another agencies gets criticised for doing the exact opposite when it comes to downtown. Just sayin'.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

Don't forget the giant underpasses that let you bypass the roundabouts alltogether!

Rail ROW just north of Liberty Village

If you're talking about the rail line that runs diagonally between Queen / Dufferin and Strachan / Wellington, then that is the Georgetown, Milton and Barrie GO lines. They are far from abandoned and are currently being rebuilt to accommodate all day service on those three lines GO lines...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

The next-bus display at Torbram Road WB was turned on today around 8:15 pm. I was driving so I didn't get to see what it actually said, but it showed two lines of text and the top line was flashing when a 1 QUEEN was pulling into the stop.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

At the end of the day, the only way streetcars will be removed from service is if they it can be shown that the equivalent number of buses can provide a higher quality of service to all road users. I challenge anyone to show that, given the conditions downtown. No one person can unilaterally...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

Right. Personally, I'm a fan of doing what you can now versus waiting to do a "perfect" job.

Visa rolling out payWave mobile phone payments in NY subway and taxis

To quote Donald Rumsfeld (and it makes me feel icky to do it), "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." The Metrocard, Presto and SmarTrip (all cards that I have used) know that when I make an on-street transfer from route to route I should recieve some sort of discount for the second...

Visa rolling out payWave mobile phone payments in NY subway and taxis

Thanks for clarifying, but it begs the question as to why none of the pilot projects have mentioned anything about transfers.

Visa rolling out payWave mobile phone payments in NY subway and taxis

I've been researching this for quite some time, but I cannot find out how these technologies handle transfers. It's great to be able to pay with your credit card, but if they don't accommodate the transfer rules then the value is very limited.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

As I've said before, the mayor cannot unilaterally do that. Staff would have to eliminate the maintenance budget, the TTC commission would have to approve that decision, and Council would have to give final approval on the budget that didn't include any maintenance. Three levels of checks and...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

He can't unilatterally do that. The only role that council as a whole has is approving or not approving the TTC's budget. The councillors serving on the TTC's board set the actual budget, based on staff input. Besides, would council as a whole go against the coroner's recommendations made...

    New Streetcars

"What? Never! I, Mr. Car Driver, don't do anything wrong. It's always someone else." To answer your question... Yes. Everyone notices. However, this is what you get when you try and point it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh33bGAxl58

Time for one GTA transit authority?

Each branch is a seperate legal entity. All of the shares are owned by the same owner, but they are separate entities. If, we're going to define "a single system" as a single legal entity (which I have done), then MTA is not a single system. If we're going on a different definition then we get a...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

They don't use those ramps, but operations are pretty simple from Queen Street: Left or right onto Central Park, then right into the terminal. Leaving, they use a dedicated signal to go left onto Central Park and then another left or a right onto Queen. I believe these signals are coordinated...

Time for one GTA transit authority?

How can Ford mess with the province's transit plans? He has the power of persuasion, and that's pretty much limited by how badly your breath stinks... From my perspective, we only have to brand transit in such a way that people view it as a single authority. This means fare integration...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I'm not a computer programmer, but I suspect that Presto and Open Payment will not be compatible. The best we can hope for is a hybrid reader that accepts both types of cards so I can use Presto or Open Payment, whichever technology I feel works best for me. Heaven help me if I have both a...
