I've heard that the Zellers will remain open until March (yuck), so they'll probably start liquidating after the new year...

    Hudson's Bay Company

The Bay has also announced that they will be opening a "store" inside Toronto Airport this fall. From the picture it shows only the Bay multi-color products that they're so famous for..

Where's the one at Erin Mills? Surely that's getting converted..

I've asked around, but with no luck.. I'm hoping it's soon as the mall seems to be getting more crowded these days which is a good thing, but it still needs that update.

Well for some reason or another, Vero Moda never opened up here. Instead "Call it Spring" moved in beside Gap and Guess. Also, I hear Bestbuy Mobile will also be coming near the food court and Dynamite is also expanding their location..

    Dead/Decaying Malls of Greater Toronto

If I'm seeing the plans right, only the center part of the mall (where the Zellers used to be?) is the "Asian Mini Mall". This gives the rest of the mall a chance to see some major tenants if Fieldgate can pull it off.. Woodbine on the other hand, has about 30 stores that are closed through out...

Wow, that sounds like quite an ambitious project for Malton.. Good for the community. I bet ya the owners of Woodbine mall are freaking out now!

    Sears Canada (1952-2017)

I used to dislike the Bay a few years back.. But they have been trying hard for the last couple of years and I find myself going there more and more these days. I'm hoping Sears will be able to do something similar.. but I'm also guessing that they will sell off a good amount of their stores...

But does it have to be cheap to be sucessful? I think folks have gotten so tired of Zellers that almost anything will be a welcome change. I myself don't mind paying a buck or two more for a better shopping experience. Much like grocery shopping. While I do shop at NoFrills and Food Basics...

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

I heard a rumor on another forum that a Walmart might be coming to Westwood mall.. Anyone heard about this?

True, but the 6 months to renovate seems quite excessive. I mean, you can really build a Walmart-type store from the ground up in 6 months. And it's not that the stores look is that drastically different either..

Indeed.. I noticed it looks pretty big, but then again it's a big hub now for both BT and Miway.

I was at the Shoppers World in Brampton today and a worker in the Zellers was telling me that the store is closing in September. They are not yet, doing a liquidation.. Is this the date for the 2nd phase of stores to close?

    Target

I've only been to Targets once or twice.. Visually, think of a bigger new-format Zellers store.. Colors and look being similar. However, the product selection is way better. Quality of stuff is higher than Zellers or Walmart.. And the most important part, the employees give a damn! ;)

    Target

I dunno about the SQ1 location but I was in the Guelph store on the weekend and the sales were very dissapointing. 10-30% off everything was the signage, with most things only being 10% off. All clothes and electronics were 10, while books and toys were 20 to 30% off.. The store was VERY full...

    Department Stores then and now

Yeah.. For a mall it's size, Stone Road sure has undergone some big changes.. They're doing some big changes again by grouping several stores into an H&M and moving one of their entrances too.

    Department Stores then and now

Not quite, it was a Kmart. The Consumers is also the malls new foodcourt. They also used to have a Miracle grocery store which is now a Chapters.

    Mississauga Toronto | Limelight Condominiums | ?m | 32s | Daniels | Kirkor

I've never understood the thought behind adding these small condo's near these towering giants.. Who wants to say "I live in the Limelight" but end up living in it's shadow? The nice part about low level condos (like the Daniels FirstHome) is that you live in a sun filled neighborhood. To...

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Ah that sounds better than the Value Village. Longo's should've picked up the location instead..

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Really..? That area is pretty afluent.... A Value Village doesn't seem to really fit in that area, IMO.
